There's no way to justify Skylar sleeping with Ted. Even as a strategic manuever against Walt, it still is legal infidelity (especially in light of her lying to Walt about the divorce) and it still makes her look like a slut. Also, it just made her look bad that it took so little for her to consider jumping into bed with another person when Walt NEVER even thought of doing such a thing until AFTER finding out that she cheated on him. Maybe this is a flaw of the show being written by a man, because I can think of other shows written by men where it seems like female characters need so very little to convince them to cheat on their guys and sleep with someone else. Friday Night Lights comes to mind. I still maintain that she always wanted to sleep with Ted. She knew what she was getting into when she decided to work for him and what about that Marilyn Monroe routine she did at Ted's birthday party? She would have never chosen to work for the man if she didn't want to sleep with him knowing their history. She made a choice and Breaking Bad is all about consequences for one's choices.

Also, if Skylar really had a problem with Walt being a drug dealer, she could have went straight to the cops instead of sleeping around and lying to her son and also screwing with his head by making him wonder why she was trying to kick Walt out of the house for no reason. By the way, she had a lot of gall to just tell Walt to leave his house and think he would just do it because she said so. It just showed the nature of her relationship with Walt all these years. She thinks she can tell him to jump and he will say how high. In fact, she treats EVERYONE like that, Hank, Marie, Ted, etc. Watch every interaction she has with those characters and see how she is always the dominant person in the conversation. I think she was shocked when Walt refused to leave and stood up to her. That was a turning point for Walt, and we saw a little bit of Heisenburg there as the meek, mild mannered teacher who was whipped by his wife, jealous of alpha male Hank, and a guy who allowed other people to become rich off his research started gradually eroding away.

Skylar has this arrogant air about her that annoys the hell out of me (and you really see it in her eyes the way Anna Gunn plays her) and I think Walt has evolved into a much more extreme, dangerous version of her when you look at the way he tries to tell everyone what to do now and how egotistical he has become. Also, much like Skylar typically does, he acts like he thinks he's smarter than everyone. It's a far cry from season 1 Walt who was Skylar's doormat and was too meek and mild to ever take on a dominant persona with anyone. He's a lot like Skylar now, except more evil and criminally

I'm getting kind of psychological here but I think Walt takes on the personality traits of people he is jealous of or feels hold power over him. He has taken on elements of Skylar, Hank and Gus over the course of the series. He has always had a MASSIVE insecurity problem, but now I'm rambling.

Also, if you recall Skylar talking about Ted to that lawyer woman, oh yes indeed she acted like he was the perfect guy. Hypocrisy. She was between two criminal men but Ted was just Mr. Perfect in her eyes. She couldn't stand to be in the same house with the drug dealer but she was spending every night in bed with another criminal

I get that Walt's no saint, and he's certainly done far worse things than Skylar, but she's no saint either. If this season is supposed to make me suddenly like her, it's not working. I also love how stupid she can be like how she never considered having a "Danny" for the car wash, yet acted like she was so much smarter than Saul. There's that arrogance again. Also, the way she royally screwed things up with Ted by trying to handle the situation herself, and inadvertently screwed over Walt by giving away the money that he needed.

Also, I don't at all believe that Walt never cared about his family. There are plenty of examples throughout the series to prove that is false, including the rather fatherly feelings he developed for Jessie. I do however believe, that that particular part of him eroded away towards the end of last season. I don't think he realizes that yet though, how much of his soul he has already lost. Jessie by contrast, refuses to lose his humanity. He is the complete opposite of Walt, and in a lot of ways you can see how their character development throughout the series runs contrast to eachother. Jesse is a lot like season 1 Walt now. He's more mild mannered, cooperative, and not egotistical at all. We see that Jesse is all about family now too, as he breaks up with Andrea and Brock for their own safety. He's season 1 Walt, but better and without the insecurity issues. Walt on the other hand, is kind of like season 1 Jesse now. He's reckless, selfish, irresponsible, full of ego, and seems to be getting more and more immature. Just look at the fancy car he bought himself. It's so easy to see season 1 or 2 Jesse enjoying that ride

She never would have slept with him if walt hadn't done what he did. That to me is the difference. Maybe she wanted to? Maybe she thought about it? But I don't believe for a second she would have committed the act except in that situation. There was definitely an escapist side to it. Ted was there in a way that walt wasn't and probably filled a hole in her life. But there was still a reason for it. Legality wise means nothing to me. Her relationship with walt was clearly over at that point. She made it perfectly clear she didn't want him in her life and he wouldn't grant her that. I understand his reasons. He states them explicitly. "if i dont have my family I have nothing". But I buy both of their motives. That's why the show is so great. Both characters are acting with a completely logical thought process but which still puts them in conflict of eachother.

As for being wrong to kick him out of the house? Not in the least. The house is both of theirs. They both have the same right to be there. But at that point, walt is the lying criminal. He is 100% in the wrong when she makes that demand, and he knows it.

Her reasons for not turning him in were made very clear, many times. That choice, to me, is no more questionable than walts decision to cook meth vs take charity.

That was one of my favorite parts of the show was when the son set up that crappy website and was excited to see when the money roll in. That was hilarious.

I wonder if during the last season if they'll ever revisit Grey Matter again?

My guess was that the cold open was a flashback of jesse. He used to have a bike and had played with a bug in a season 2 episode.

I was wrong, and there's no doubt this will create a rift in the group. They always manage to majorly shake up the course of events theough one small unexpected twist, and they've done it again here.

I specifically remember Skylar demanding that Walt leave the house and kids BEFORE she knew he was a drug dealer. That was her reaction to just discovering that he was lying about something, but she didn't yet know what it was. She learned what it was later. I was shocked that she had the gall to expect Walt to abandon his home and kids just because she had caught him in some kind of lie. She really came across as a domineering bitch

Skylar would have slept with Ted whether she had learned the truth about Walt or not. Look how quickly she jumped into bed with Ted when she learned of Walt's lie and the relationship went south. I'm sorry, but it's not normal for a person to so quickly find a new bed mate. A normal person would have agonized over the decision just wondering what Walt Jr., Hank or Marie would think if they found out, especially Walt Jr. A normal person would have considered other ways of trying to get Walt to agree to a divorce before immediately deciding to sleep with another man. A normal person would have had the intelligence to foresee their husband angrily going after her new boy toy upon learning of her infidelity the way Walt actually ended up doing. None of those things even crossed Skylar's mind because she had wanted so badly to get into bed with Ted for the longest time and was just happy to finally have an excuse to do it. The show dropped plenty of clues and lots of foreshadowing to show that it was going to happen one way or another. She had been showing her interest in him in many subtle ways even before she caught Walt in his lies. She even dropped something at work in one episode just to get Ted's attention, then there was the Ted birthday incident, AND the fact that she was covering up his criminal activity. Her sleeping with Ted was a done deal long before it actually happened and Vince Gilligan couldn't have spelled it out for viewers any more than he did.

Also, I don't agree that all of Walt and Skylar's decisions are based on logic. Nobody in this show operates completely on logic. I don't think any human being does. Emotions play a key factor in a lot of things Walt and Skylar have done. In Skylar's case, sometimes lust alone influences her.

You're right, she did ask him to leave. In the season 2 finale there was the big showdown where she revealed that she had uncovered walt's months of lies. She said she was going to hank and marie's with the kids for the weekend, and when she got back she wanted walt "gone". But the way it played out was completely realistic. Any mother would have done the same in that situation. It wasn't just "some kind of lie". It was a series of serious lies "on top of lies". I can't possibly side with walt in that scene. The entire finale, including the plane crash, was built on the concept of walt dealing with consequences for his actions.

As for a "normal person" not cheating. . . Some 20% of people cheat on their spouses. In real life. Not saying that makes it any sort of right, but it's certainly not the most absolutely evil move anyone could make like you're making it out to be. It was a bitch move. No question. But it wasn't just "based on a lie". All the facts (or a lot of them) were out at that point, and even if skyler was crazy in love with ted, there was a strategic move in that action. She even tells her lawyer that shes surprised it didn't get walt out.

But in the end we're not going to agree. You obviously believe that walts lying to skyler was NOT that bad, and that skyler sleeping with ted WAS that bad. I believe the opposite. Walt's actions were deceptive and manipulative to the person he's been married to for 16 years. Skyler's choice was in response to those actions. That's all it really comes down to for me.

I think that Jesse is going to push the water guy on the floor and say to Mike and Walt: "I´m out, keep all the money. I want nothing to do with this anymore".
It was a terrific episode besides that last incident. Nothing is worth killing a little boy over. jesus. fukked up sjit. I do feel however that next episode is going to be a bit lame, just like last weeks episode. The cops are going to look for the boy and find strange clues. Thank god this episode was not about Skyler. When BB gets cancelled or really ends I am so going to get the blu rays. Amazing camerawork and beautiful screenwriting. I love how Jesse comes up with all these bright ideas all of a sudden. Who was that industry drugs woman talking to on the phone? was that with mike? It sounded like Mike´s voice, but I am not 100% sure.....

Breaking bad doesn't have lame episodes.

And why does the kid dying make it less terrific? Those sorts of dark spins are exactly the type of shocking twists that have defined this show and made it so unpredictable.

Don't you know that kids aren't supposed to die, ever?

God, I love that Landry is in Breaking Bad now.
