Also, if Skylar really had a problem with Walt being a drug dealer, she could have went straight to the cops instead of sleeping around and lying to her son and also screwing with his head by making him wonder why she was trying to kick Walt out of the house for no reason. By the way, she had a lot of gall to just tell Walt to leave his house and think he would just do it because she said so. It just showed the nature of her relationship with Walt all these years. She thinks she can tell him to jump and he will say how high. In fact, she treats EVERYONE like that, Hank, Marie, Ted, etc. Watch every interaction she has with those characters and see how she is always the dominant person in the conversation. I think she was shocked when Walt refused to leave and stood up to her. That was a turning point for Walt, and we saw a little bit of Heisenburg there as the meek, mild mannered teacher who was whipped by his wife, jealous of alpha male Hank, and a guy who allowed other people to become rich off his research started gradually eroding away.
Skylar has this arrogant air about her that annoys the hell out of me (and you really see it in her eyes the way Anna Gunn plays her) and I think Walt has evolved into a much more extreme, dangerous version of her when you look at the way he tries to tell everyone what to do now and how egotistical he has become. Also, much like Skylar typically does, he acts like he thinks he's smarter than everyone. It's a far cry from season 1 Walt who was Skylar's doormat and was too meek and mild to ever take on a dominant persona with anyone. He's a lot like Skylar now, except more evil and criminally
I'm getting kind of psychological here but I think Walt takes on the personality traits of people he is jealous of or feels hold power over him. He has taken on elements of Skylar, Hank and Gus over the course of the series. He has always had a MASSIVE insecurity problem, but now I'm rambling.
Also, if you recall Skylar talking about Ted to that lawyer woman, oh yes indeed she acted like he was the perfect guy. Hypocrisy. She was between two criminal men but Ted was just Mr. Perfect in her eyes. She couldn't stand to be in the same house with the drug dealer but she was spending every night in bed with another criminal
I get that Walt's no saint, and he's certainly done far worse things than Skylar, but she's no saint either. If this season is supposed to make me suddenly like her, it's not working. I also love how stupid she can be like how she never considered having a "Danny" for the car wash, yet acted like she was so much smarter than Saul. There's that arrogance again. Also, the way she royally screwed things up with Ted by trying to handle the situation herself, and inadvertently screwed over Walt by giving away the money that he needed.
Also, I don't at all believe that Walt never cared about his family. There are plenty of examples throughout the series to prove that is false, including the rather fatherly feelings he developed for Jessie. I do however believe, that that particular part of him eroded away towards the end of last season. I don't think he realizes that yet though, how much of his soul he has already lost. Jessie by contrast, refuses to lose his humanity. He is the complete opposite of Walt, and in a lot of ways you can see how their character development throughout the series runs contrast to eachother. Jesse is a lot like season 1 Walt now. He's more mild mannered, cooperative, and not egotistical at all. We see that Jesse is all about family now too, as he breaks up with Andrea and Brock for their own safety. He's season 1 Walt, but better and without the insecurity issues. Walt on the other hand, is kind of like season 1 Jesse now. He's reckless, selfish, irresponsible, full of ego, and seems to be getting more and more immature. Just look at the fancy car he bought himself. It's so easy to see season 1 or 2 Jesse enjoying that ride
