The artwork in Supipara Chapter 1 is enough to make me want to purchase it. But yeah, the reviews I have read are mixed, to say the least.
The next VNs I hit up will likely be Harmonia and the second Higurashi.

Jak 2 HD
Played about 20 minutes, witnessed how unforgiving the checkpoints were as I've heard, and I think that's enough of this one for me! The GTA elements and driving look terrible from things I've seen. Clunky controls. The first game was a slog itself, so I think I'm done with this series and okay with that.
How to hate Jak & Daxter...
Play Ratchet & Clank and Sly Cooper first.

Nailed it. I tried, I tried to like the games. Seriously. But they're not a patch on Sly or R&C.Xeogred wrote:How to hate Jak & Daxter...

Re: Games NOT Beaten 2017
Yup. It's funny because even back in the day I heard a few friends say the same thing when all this stuff was first on the PS2. My friends biggest argument was that R&C has side strafing (admittedly comes in at the second one), and the Jak games never do even though there's more focus on combat in 2-3 supposedly.
My roommate claims 3 is his favorite, but two strikes in a row for me. I probably won't even bother. I beat 1, so I'm fine with putting the whole collection on my beaten shelf anyways.
Plus I have the new PS4 Ratchet & Clank and Sly 3 sitting around waiting to be played instead.

Funny enough, this is a nickname I have for our current president. It's bright orange, slimy, and associated with shit.TSTR wrote:#GooGone

Well, let's just hope he smells remotely as nice as Goo Gone...

In light of how ridiculously good the R&C and Sly Cooper series are, I'm amazed that the Jak & Daxter series was so successful. Jak II is garbage. and I gave up on Jak III after about 15 minutes of play time.Xeogred wrote:Jak 2 HD

Pretty disappointing follow up to Naughty Dog's great Crash Bandicoot series.
EDIT: Sanzaru Games did a pretty great job picking up the torch after Sucker Punch. I wish the Sly series could be resurrected again. The guy who voiced Sly seemed to genuinely love the series.
Re: Games NOT Beaten 2017
Yeah, Thieves in Time was really good. The mascot platformer isn't in the best of shape right now (overexposure, to say the least). Still, there might be a chance that Yooka-Laylee changes that and we see a surge of those styles of games again as the N64 crowd gets all nostalgic, those wee precious little children.
Re: Games NOT Beaten 2017
Yooka-Laylee looks AHmazing. I'm really hopeful of that one.
Great to hear Sly 4 delivers. 3 sounds great too so I'll hit it up soon. It's pretty cool how similar Infamous feels, you can see the Sucker Punch touch.
@Juan: In ways it just makes me laugh about Uncharted as well... when it comes to the combat and gameplay, I find Uncharted to be totally average at best and not great at all. So many other games do it better. I guess you can say the same about Jak vs other mascot platformers of that time. But yeah, as a Crash fan I was really disappointed. To me Jak 1 felt like N64 Rare leftovers, there was some nice Banjo Kazooie vibes at times, but it wasn't nearly as good and absolutely none of the characters/humor did anything for me, when I usually love this kind of stuff. Oh well.

Re: Games NOT Beaten 2017
Man, I think you finally sold me on the Sly games past 1 the way it needed to be sold to me. I've never gotten into 2 because I really enjoyed the stage-based way that Sly 1 played, and I was just so uncomfortable with the change. I'd NEVER thought of looking at it like proto-Infamous! I'm totally putting the Sly trilogy on PS3 on my radar now (there's one of those, right?). Thanks!Xeogred wrote:Great to hear Sly 4 delivers. 3 sounds great too so I'll hit it up soon.
