They were only stacked like that long enough to snap a quick silly picture in front of my door. No consoles were harmed in the creation of that picture and I don't store them in huge stacks like that.

See, I don't understand that "Ooo, this is a good deal, I should get it" impulse when you already have the thing in question. Picking up a second DC for a dollar means you're out a dollar. While it might be a good deal over a hypothetical going rate of $20, you'd still have more money overall if you didn't buy it.

Unfortunately, I do this all the time with games. I don't buy duplicates but I will buy more games than I should just because it's a good deal. I probably own games I will never play in my lifetime. :? :|

I'm more worried of the Dreamcasts.
Dreamcasts have a nice, solid, quality build I think. They'd probably be fine too.

Now if you were piling all of that on top of a Ps1...
I'd be worried about the NES's. They're not all that sturdy, and that Sega super-system on top probably weighs a bit.

I don't own more than 1 of any system, unless you count the clones. I use to clones so I don't wear out my original systems.

I buy variants but I don't go out of my way to do it. If I see a system for cheap I usually buy it and if I already have a system of the same model they have a cosmetic death match. Whoever wins gets to stay while the loser gets cast out into the cold cruel world.

I wouldn't say hoard, but I do have a decent collection of systems. But it's only because of how stupidly games are only released for x system or y system. The thing is though I need to make a going list/excel sheet to keep stock of what I do have just in case I see a game and for a good deal so I'm not tempted to get a dupe. But variants seems a little much unless it's a nice looking one like the mario and zelda versions of the 3ds(which I would love to get my hands on one of those eventually), or even the nes version of gba sp(that looks pretty neat but I may see if I can just put a skin on a existing gba sp). I mean I can understand hoard if it's a limited run version of a console with a special outside to it...those are nice to see and break up the colors you see on handhelds, and some home consoles. I would probably do a lot just to have the special version of some consoles I have in return of getting rid of the ones I already have. Just because they look nicer. The only problem is I need a tv stand asap but I haven't found a cheap one I like yet. That top of my dresser can only hold so much and it's already got a 27" sanyo, gamecube, nes, and snes jr(with the systems kinda stacked if they can be). One of these days I'll get one just so the hoard doesn't look so bad...

By variants I really meant different models such as the Playstation and PSOne or Atari 2600 and Atari 2600 Jr. . Usually I don't bother with color/skin variants unless they look really cool.

Well I do have to admit the mario, zelda, and nes variants do look nice. But I'm actually half tempted just to find a skin/case I can modify to look the same....
