Subtle thread crapping is subtle...

In all fairness I actually do like some electronic music - some stuff that has been mentioned and some that has not. I lean more industrial/electronic than house/dance/electronic and, like JT, have done a fair amount of electronic music creation/production myself (I once shared a link somewhere around here to my album, which people seemed to like). So yeah, I appreciate the genre a good deal...

...but I don't think it needs its own thread

in all seriousness, I'm a pretty big electronic fan. I was heavy into it in high school, and then later in college... man I probably listened to electronic stuff 98% of my time in 2002-2003. Hrvatski, Cex, Venetian Snares, Kid606, Bogdan Raczynski, AFX, Squarepusher, mu-z1q (can't find the "mu" symbol), etc.

Which of course necessitates bringing up Gerson Kingsley's Popcorn which I think is a required tutorial for anyone making Tracker music.

You and I can't be friends anymore. You should have the alt code memorized for that like I do.

Carbon Based - Cyclone
I just love the 2:33-3:35 part and the ending. I have so many fond memories of killing people in the Isle of Quel'danas in World of Warcraft while listening to that song :P
If you like Freeform/FINRG/Trancecore/Hard NRG then I recommend trying out DJ RX's mixes. They're free to download on his website
http://www.dj-rx.com/main.php?page=mixes
There's also one Hard Trance mix there. What happened to that genre anyways? It seems like no one produces Hard Trance anymore. Did every one switch to Hardstyle when it became more melodic&anthemic(and popular)?

This is true though. 99% of the obnoxious kids who claim to listen to techo (while listening to eurodance or some other saccharine genre that has nothing to do with techno) would absolutely hate real techno music. People who listen to techo are mostly 28-38 year old ho-hum upper middle class white males with an university education these days (even though the genre has it's roots in Detroit).

The same thing applies for Trance too, this modern "epic anthem" Trance has nothing to do with original trance that was very minimalistic. I mostly listen to bastardized versions of Techno and Trance myself and this shit still makes my blood boil.

All video game music is electronic music by default. That is before video game music turned into Hollywood music in the 2000s.

How is it possible to mention shmup music in an electronic music thread with out mentioning Touhou? :)
