Oh I don't mind too much, it just feels so uncomfortable to play most genres on one, compared to a joypad. Fighter, Beat'Em Ups, Shmups, Platformers(2D&3D), puzzle, RPG.... I haven't played enough shooting games to form an opinion, but I'd imagine Light-Gun controls are the best. I'd also imagine most, though certainly not the one I play, MMO are optimized on a keyboard. DFo for me is Joypad + Keyboard controls, and I like it a ton.
Xeogred wrote: I also grew up with consoles too... but uh, I don't even know where I'm going with this. I have my preferences but can do both. It's just like my argument against people taking sides for FPS's or whatnot, for me it's not the control/setup that matters, it's the game itself and the "feel". Entirely subjective, but for instance Halo feels better to me on a controller, and Half-Life 1-2 feel better on the keyboard/mouse, etc.
Also, I'm talking about, of course, flash, indie and some commercial games that are PC exclusive. Emulation is entirely different. Keyboard's are just terrible at emulating everything more complex than Atari 2600 if you ask me, games are way too hard to control when optimized for a joypad(god forbid one meant for an Analog stick!), then brought over to your PC.

I remember emulating Earthbound way back, I was freaking ecstatic when my PS2>USB adapter showed in the mail, I remember thinking I could finally control the game how it was meant to be! From anywhere in the room I wanted, in any position I wanted, with the control scheme that I liked!

 , I've just always felt keyboards have some hurtles to overcome in gaming, since they weren't designed with gaming in mind, while joypads and joysticks can focus on gaming alone. Keyboards force you too play their way, joypads are just there for your enjoyment.

I think these arguments are fairly one sided coming from a retro minded gaming site. Some of the arguments have been kind of ridiculous.

I love older games and newer. Gaming sales and the industry is very healthy right now. They have games to offer for all the different styles of gamers. I think too often we look upon retro nostalgia with rose-tinted glasses. Retro games have their charms, but newer games also have features we only dreamed of having in our games 10-15 years ago.

I hold to the fact that several long existing franchises found their peak this gen though. If you ask me we've had the best Kirby games, the most easily accessible 2D fighters, the most chaotically fun party games and some of the best/funnest games of all-time(for just me maybe?). I really don't think a Mysims on PS2 or GC would be nearly as fun. DS certainly was a new experience though, If I had to choose one must-have system of this gen, it'd instantly be DS. There are plenty of games on DS that really wouldn't work on any other system, or at least wouldn't be nearly as fun.

Also, does anybody here know if Mario Galaxy would be at all possible last gen?

That under a heavy recession and closely a new generation of consoles sales drop doesn't make the industry less healthy.

I don't think a one-month decline means that gaming sales aren't healthy in the bigger picture.

There haven't been as many blockbuster titles recently. You also have to look at game sales relative to other consumer purchasing during the recession and they have fared well.

Did anything come out in May? Aside from L.A. Noire, I mean - did anything worth playing come out?

I'm seriously drawing a blank here.

There were some - Witcher 2 was the same week as L.A. Noire, but as a PC only (thus far) RPG, it's kind of a niche title. Brink, but good-not-great reviews and not being a sequel probably hurt that. Hunted: The Demon's Forge, but that barely counts as it was the 31st.

No CoD or whatever though, as far as sales go.
