Oh I don't mind too much, it just feels so uncomfortable to play most genres on one, compared to a joypad. Fighter, Beat'Em Ups, Shmups, Platformers(2D&3D), puzzle, RPG.... I haven't played enough shooting games to form an opinion, but I'd imagine Light-Gun controls are the best. I'd also imagine most, though certainly not the one I play, MMO are optimized on a keyboard. DFo for me is Joypad + Keyboard controls, and I like it a ton.brunoafh wrote:I don't mind using a keyboard, but that's more than likely because I was pretty much raised by pc gaming in the late 80s/early 90s.
Also, I'm talking about, of course, flash, indie and some commercial games that are PC exclusive. Emulation is entirely different. Keyboard's are just terrible at emulating everything more complex than Atari 2600 if you ask me, games are way too hard to control when optimized for a joypad(god forbid one meant for an Analog stick!), then brought over to your PC.Xeogred wrote: I also grew up with consoles too... but uh, I don't even know where I'm going with this. I have my preferences but can do both. It's just like my argument against people taking sides for FPS's or whatnot, for me it's not the control/setup that matters, it's the game itself and the "feel". Entirely subjective, but for instance Halo feels better to me on a controller, and Half-Life 1-2 feel better on the keyboard/mouse, etc.
I remember emulating Earthbound way back, I was freaking ecstatic when my PS2>USB adapter showed in the mail, I remember thinking I could finally control the game how it was meant to be! From anywhere in the room I wanted, in any position I wanted, with the control scheme that I liked!
