Black Friday 1994
Re: Black Friday 1994
I see what you're saying, but I think we're just gonna have to agree to disagree. I don't think you're wrong, per se, I guess it just depends on your sensitivity to matters regarding the human condition and its inherent faults.

I guess not having Thanksgiving has a few benefits. This must be 1 of them.
If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.

This is exactly the kind of logic I am railing against. So while we can agree to disagree, I do feel strongly that I have the moral high ground here.Luke wrote:

If people are so empty headed that they are conditioned to think there is only one big sale a year, I say farewell to the people who get trampled to death. Only leaves smarter people alive.

This in turn helps retail stores, and if it helps weed out the ignorant population, good.
Because when "acting like assholes" = injuring/killing others, and you've seen this happen almost every year, you need to shoulder some of the blame. It would be like saying "So I hold a Christmas party every year where only a few people die from someone pouring poison into the punchbowl. Does that mean I should stop holding it?" YES.Luke wrote: A teeny-weeny-tiny minority of parents, who are assholes to begin with, act not-surprisingly like assholes.
And that's my fault how?

I can certainly tell you that any retail employee would be perfectly fine with getting rid of the whole "black friday" tradition.
Christmas could use a little less commercialization anyhow.

Re: Black Friday 1994
Actually, I haven't seen people killing each other over a sale every year; and your statement considering that is ridiculous and asinine. You are taking our discussion into a stupid argument, where you literally equate a sale to poisoning people (take a second and think about it, you actually did that). By that logic every person who dies in an traffic accident should blame only the company that manufactures cars.dsheinem wrote: Because when "acting like assholes" = injuring/killing others, and you've seen this happen almost every year, you need to shoulder some of the blame. You are completely off your rocker on this one. You might as well support the people who sue McDonalds for serving hot coffee.
This is the first time that I read your posts and have to think "What's eating this guy?".
Of course, no personal disrespect, but you're way off on this.

You're talking about football, right?dsheinem wrote:The fact that we are injuring and killing each other once a year... and it would be worth tossing the "tradition" just to save a few lives.
