Is that the JRPG game which had dwarfs casting magic, which got every Tolkien fan's panties in a bunch?

How deprived of imagination was EA at the time?

It wasn't a JRPG, but yeah it kinda got a lot of people miffed. I didn't think it was really great or anything but it definitely wasn't bad and I enjoyed it. The story was stupid though and I'm glad it's not considered canon.

The characters in LOTR: The Third Age were all just rip-offs of characters from the books/movies. They looked the same but had different names.

I can't remember if I posted in this thread, but Mana Khemia 2 is one of my favorite RPGs and it is fairly easy. As long as you keep up with synthesizing stronger weapons and armor for your characters, you should see the "game over" screen very infrequently.

Still loved the game though, Pepperoni was the best.

I really like Final Fantasy Mystic Quest on SNES for it's simplicity. It's not a very good FF game by any means, and it's ridiculously easy, but I still dig it.

When I say easy, I mean the game gives you the option to continue whenever you lose a battle...but it feels like such a fun little mini-RPG to me. I love switching out your weapons to interact with the environment in it. Plus, it's a FF where I can jump. Probably helps that 16-bit RPGS are my favorites.

Okay I'm looking for PS1 JRPGs to play on the PSP that fit the bill.. Chrono Cross is easy so far, its story is far less interesting than CT but it's bearable. Is Persona 2 worth playing? Parasite Eve? FFVII? And is Xenogears actually good, story-wise? Teen angst levels in aforementioned titles? Thanks!

Parasite Eve is good. The combat is a turn-based action hybrid but it was designed with the original PSX controller in mind, so it'll work fine on the PSP. FFVII is good, even though it's overhyped. It's not too difficult, though it does have a fair amount of angst around Cloud.

Drat, my CC saves were corrupted.

Thanks for the remarks at any rate. Will try Xenogears first.

YES

It is a lengthy game, so just keep to it. You will be glad you did, and read SLOWLY. The story can get very deep and confusing if you rush it.
