Wow. This post brings back memories. I don't think I've played original Zelda since the 80s, yet I still remember those locations on the map. Especially that damn tombstone one. It took me forever to find that out.

I didn't have the manual when I played through or a map (I didn't think to look one up, doh!) and I got lost all the damned time. I always ended up in that little strip heading to a long set of stairs that was covered in tekkites and boulders and bordered by mountains and water. Pain in the ace.

I was checking to see if anyone made a jigsaw-style puzzle consisting of the overworld map of The Legend of Zelda, and I came across this:

Pretty cool, huh?

I did not know that. It would have been nice if the entrances also matched :D

You can have a decent sized one off custom jigsaw puzzle made for about $100 USD. Too bad there is not a market for this.

Heh, since memory space was at a premium back then, that makes perfect sense for them to make them where they all fit in an array together.

guys you are making me laugh,

Everyone is like
"This brings back memories"
'I didn't play this game since the 80's"

I thought this is a retro games forum? And zelda is a damn popular series!

yeah.... but it is one of those ones that is such a well trodden game that you kind of don't NEED to play it anymore. It isn't a hidden nes gem.

I can't speak for everyone but when I've had it since i was a kid, I have already put more time into it than probably most other games. It would at least be in my top 10 most played. Just haven't played it in a while.

I played this game to death as a kid... so much that I still have everything in this game memorized; how to get 100% items and everything :) The only thing I was never able to completely layout/remember is the friggin Level 9 dungeon; most confusing thing ever.

On another note this is my 100th post and it is about one of my most beloved games... how fitting
