I mean, i can understand it being on the list, I know it revolutionary and what not, but really, I just found it frustrating as crap to go back to today. Where most first party nintendo nes games are timeless I always found that this one aged like crap.

Yet again, on the list I can understand, but in the top 5? Dumb.
Of any of the titles, that one there is the least surprising to me (especially considering the bias slant to the whole list anyways). I wouldn't of even been surprised if it hit #1 personally, not to say I think it deserves #1, but it certainly doesn't surprise me with the fan base behind it.

In all the top 10 games are all games that anyone and their brother has seen, played, and still can remember the name of today. Yeah we say yawn, we're retro gamers... but for anyone who probably hasn't picked up an NES controller in a decade, all 10 of the top ten would probably be listed off of games they remembered from childhood... Mario and Zelda being the firsts they'd probably list.

I hated the NES personally, even as a kid the library usually felt crap to me (I don't know how many times I'd get back from the video store with a rental and be pissed I blew 5 dollars on yet another shit tastic game... Nintendo Seal of Quality my ASS). And still those top 10 games are all games I played and enjoyed to some extent.

I'm guessing you rented from a retail store. I was lucky enough to live in a town growing up when video/game rental stores were everywhere. There was a "Fast video" store that had a drive thru (although I couldn't drive) and you could rent 5 NES games for 5 bucks, and keep them for 5 days. I miss those prices.

A retail store? Like Sears? no.

I rented from what was called "Video Galaxy" on route 5. It was a local movie rental chain back in the 80's and early 90's in Tolland County. I think they were bought out because the last time I was up there the shop I visited was owned by a bigger named company (not Blockbuster, but one of those, I'm bad with their names).

They had a fairly large selection for the area I lived in. Furthermore my brother's grandma (half brother) would buy him any NES game he wanted, and I would play those as well when he'd come over to visit. And I had the same opinion of those games.

Truthfully I'm kind of annoyed Kirby's Adventure wasn't in the top 25(it was #27). That's a game that still stands up in terms of gameplay and graphics, even today. I can't think of a time I've ever played any of the traditional Kirby games(I don't mean Avalanche or his golf game) where I haven't enjoyed myself. Of all of Nintendo's franchises, why does Kirby never seem to get the love?

I mean, come on, Zelda II is better than Kirby? Really?

Kirby seems to be getting the shaft a lot. I mean his portable games are good, but I barely ever play my nintendo ds. Where's the console kirby game we've been waiting for. It was supposed to come out on gamecube 4 years ago.

While they gave some nods to some of the lesser known titles like Metal Storm, Little Samson is pretty great game that looks excellent for the NES but it barely made the list. There a tons of games I would of put it ahead of. Also I really can't stand the original Metal Gear even as a kid I hated that game, and I've actually never met anyone who loves it when I think about it...

Now you do know someone who loves it.

I don't agree on how high on the list it was though.

I hate top 100 lists because the standards are just too low. A list like that is bound to be padded with many unremarkable games. Lower the number higher the standards and i would rather read through a top 10 to maybe top 20 or 30 because all the games listed would be relevant.

Who cares about the Ice Hockey anyway is someone going to protest the fact that game sits at number 100 ?

Also Castlevania 2 is not good enough to mentioned in a top anything list same goes for megaman 4,5 and 6. They are not bad games but they did nothing remarkable.
