What are you thoughts on the game RedSteel?

The 2nd RedSteel game is my favorite because it supports the Wii remote plus and is much tighter with the controls. Have you played them?

No I haven't, unfortunately. I do have a Wii-U though; will look into getting them.

The Nintendo Wii had a ton of great On-Rail Light Gun games for the console, both original and arcade ports. I show you some of my favorites from the collection!

Games Shown:
Gunblade NY & LA Machineguns Arcade Hits Pack
Sin & Punishment: Star Successor
Ghost Squad
Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles
Mad Dog McCree Gunslinger Pack
Dead Space Extraction
House of the Dead Overkill

What other games should I add to the Wii on-rail/Light gun game collection?
Nice round of games and THANK YOU! Not knowing about the Arcade cabinet, I always passed up on Ghost Squad thinking it was a generic FPS. Oooh I have to get that game!

I played the Mad Dog game when it first came out on the PC. The FMV was a much worse quality and the light gun was the PC mouse. It worked though most of the game was a video montage. The undertaker (not the one in your preview) of the first game had some great funny dialog.

You are right on Sin & Punishment: Star Successor, it is best played with the Wiimote as the light gun.

This is where the Wii has beaten the 360 and PS3, by being the first out the gate with not only Light Gun games, but FPS genre with the instant and precise aim anywhere on the screen! I like the Wiimote over even a mouse for the dead accuracy the sensor produces. As mentioned, even on newer HD TVs the forgotten light gun games work again.

Love the versatility of multiple control options, every Wii game should have that. Try playing the Sin and Punishment Twinstick style with an Arcade stick.

Strange that the game case does not show the Classic Controller Icon on the back cover. The original N64 import used one Analog stick for aiming and the buttons for sideways movement. Wii actually plays better with a Remote for aiming and the Nunchuck for full movement. Now to try out the PS2 controller.

The PS2 Dual Shock works after I adjusted the settings menu to a better button layout. Left Analog stick moves the gunsight, the Right Analog stick moves the character. Trigger buttons are the weapons and evade. Works great, though the Wii Remote does offer a quick instant point to where you want to shoot.

The modded Blaze Arcade Twinstick also works just like the Dual Shock. After reconfiguring the game settings, Player One stick is the gunsite, the four face buttons are for movement which is also controlled by the modded player two stick. The trigger buttons are set for weapons and evade. Works okay but a trick tapping the fire buttons with both hands on the Arcade sticks. The Wii Remote is still the best aiming device.

Love House Of The Dead Overkill, as you mentioned the over the top B movie mixed in.

Suggest including the other Wii House Dead game in your next rail shooter series, it includes both 2 and 3. I compared the Dreamcast version which works on a VGA CRT to the Wii version here. There is only one 3rd party Wiimote that actually supports rapid fire emulating parts of the Dreamcast auto loader lightguns. No idea why more 3rd party manufacturers did not produce an auto fire Wiimote. :?

I would love to have seen REZ (my favorite Rail Shooter) released on the Wii.

Loved the episode, but you missed out on one of the best features of Ghost Squad! The mode of play where the terrorists turn into women in bikinis and you have a squirt gun!

Just a bump thank you for the latest video review of Wii light gun games. I picked up Ghost Squad, you are right a hidden gem! I think many might pass up (including me before) on the game due to the cover alluding to a knock off FPS and not based on an actual Arcade cab.

 Oookay. As an exclusive to the Wii, I had to get this game! I played thru a few times unlocking weapons and uniforms. Turns out even though three basic levels, there is a lot more hidden in this light gun game. Noticed when I chose the desert uniform the level path is completely different! This is sweet, a lot more then just the Arcade cabinet levels and paths.

I'm still tempted to get the Mad Dog McCree game as crappy as it is. Looks like much better resolution FMV then the PC version. I played the laser disc arcade decades ago, it had delays when you attempted a shot. As in Dragons Lair Laserdisc redone right on the Wii, I suspect the Wii Mad Dog version will have faster disc access. However, with real video footage instead of graphics redrawn on the fly, imagine there will still be that hesitation.

 An interesting way of fanning the revolver. Hey, this should work in all the light gun game reloads!

What doesn't work is the game's "quick draw" mini-challenges where you have to point the remote away from the screen, then reload and shoot the single bad guy. In the arcade, the gun had a mercury switch that could tell when the gun was pointed down, and when pointed up it reloaded the ammunition. On the Wii, there's no motion sensing involved: you have to keep the pointer aimed away from the sensor bar. It's near impossible to do this on the Wii successfully the way it's intended. You can just cheat the system by aiming at the bad guy, cover the IR tip of the remote <to reload>, and uncover it when you're allowed to shoot him. It's the only way I was able to pull these levels off successfully.
@ Metal Jesus - Speaking of light gun games, ever try the mouse controlled game PC Chaos Control? The kills result in an explosion mist just covering the hit enemy sprites (probably to keep the rail graphics moving quick), but still a fun ride with Japan inspired anima and gun sounds

I have a feeling you don't have enough subscribers to meet the $50,000 goal. Plus, it seems only ~120 of them donated so far.

Just a random opinion, but maybe if you cut costs (like maybe only touring for half a month, getting rid of perks like the production/shipping of stickers, eat McDonalds every day instead (lol, ew), etc.) it might be pave the way a bit more for success of the funding. Not ideal, but I'm just trying to think of some way this can work for you.
