Greece's Golden Dawn issued this statement of congratulations earlier today:
Golden Dawn wrote:"This was a victory for the forces which oppose globalisation, are fighting illegal migration and are in favour of clean ethnic states, in favour of self-sufficiency in the national economy."
Angela Merkel of Germany has also congratulated Trump on his victory, as have the heads of the European Union, Italy, Spain, Slovenia(Melania Trump's home country), and the Secretary of State for the Vatican.
Czech Republic President Miloš Zeman's statement:
President Zeman wrote:“I would like to cordially congratulate Donald Trump. I had, as one of few European politicians, declared public support for this candidate … because I agree with his opinions on migration as well as the fight against Islamic terrorism.
“I appreciate Donald Trump’s public demeanour, he speaks clearly, sometimes roughly, but understandably, and avoids what is sometimes called political correctness.”
Israel and Palestine have both issues statements on Trump's victory, as has the heads of Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Turkey.
Iran's response meanwhile was pretty typical:
Iran wrote:"The US election results will have no impact on the policies of the Islamic Republic. Because of wrong policies, the position of America in the international community and world’s public opinion has diminished and [the US’s] growing rift with Europe and the world will exacerbate that position.”
Other messages of support have come in from Australia, Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, South Africa, Uganda, and many more.
Here's the message from Canadian PM Justin Trudeau:
Prime Minister Trudeau wrote:"On behalf of the Government of Canada, I would like to congratulate Donald J Trump on his election as the next President of the United States.
Canada has no closer friend, partner, and ally than the United States. We look forward to working very closely with President-elect Trump, his administration, and with the United States Congress in the years ahead, including on issues such as trade, investment, and international peace and security.
The relationship between our two countries serves as a model for the world. Our shared values, deep cultural ties, and strong integrated economies will continue to provide the basis for advancing our strong and prosperous partnership.”
