Well, the heads of state of England, France, Japan, India, Russia, China, Egypt, and Mexico have all reached out to congratulate Donald Trump, as have politicians Nigel Farage in the UK, and Marine Le Pen in France.

Greece's Golden Dawn issued this statement of congratulations earlier today:

Golden Dawn wrote:"This was a victory for the forces which oppose globalisation, are fighting illegal migration and are in favour of clean ethnic states, in favour of self-sufficiency in the national economy."

Angela Merkel of Germany has also congratulated Trump on his victory, as have the heads of the European Union, Italy, Spain, Slovenia(Melania Trump's home country), and the Secretary of State for the Vatican.

Czech Republic President Miloš Zeman's statement:

President Zeman wrote:“I would like to cordially congratulate Donald Trump. I had, as one of few European politicians, declared public support for this candidate … because I agree with his opinions on migration as well as the fight against Islamic terrorism.

“I appreciate Donald Trump’s public demeanour, he speaks clearly, sometimes roughly, but understandably, and avoids what is sometimes called political correctness.”

Israel and Palestine have both issues statements on Trump's victory, as has the heads of Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Turkey.

Iran's response meanwhile was pretty typical:

Iran wrote:"The US election results will have no impact on the policies of the Islamic Republic. Because of wrong policies, the position of America in the international community and world’s public opinion has diminished and [the US’s] growing rift with Europe and the world will exacerbate that position.”

Other messages of support have come in from Australia, Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, South Africa, Uganda, and many more.

Here's the message from Canadian PM Justin Trudeau:

Prime Minister Trudeau wrote:"On behalf of the Government of Canada, I would like to congratulate Donald J Trump on his election as the next President of the United States.

Canada has no closer friend, partner, and ally than the United States. We look forward to working very closely with President-elect Trump, his administration, and with the United States Congress in the years ahead, including on issues such as trade, investment, and international peace and security.

The relationship between our two countries serves as a model for the world. Our shared values, deep cultural ties, and strong integrated economies will continue to provide the basis for advancing our strong and prosperous partnership.”

Not a Trump fan, but I have to agree with this quote "“I appreciate Donald Trump’s public demeanour, he speaks clearly, sometimes roughly, but understandably, and avoids what is sometimes called political correctness.”"

I do the same damn thing. Blunt, not much of a filter, and if it sets someone off so be it and I tend to not let shot rest without return fire. :) I'm sure someone probably has made that annoying mental comparison.

I do agree with CRT having the Indiana border like 15min from here *by road* I'm familiar with Pence and he really will help craft a solid working cabinet and sub-set of advisers and commentators for the white house which will help school Trump in how things work, and how they can work with his style too.

There needs to be some serious introspection as to what went wrong, and racism/sexism/bigotry/homophobia is an easy target, but I would argue not the right one. I found this article an interesting read on the matter.

At the same time, there's a lot that the GOP has to look at, too. I don't know what this means for the conservative movement. I don't think Trump killed it, I think he's just a reflection of the state it has been in for a while: ineffectual, and unconvincing to the average voter.

From several posts here, I'm gathering that a lot of you agree with the Clinton "deplorables" comment. I'm curious as to what percentage folks think that actually is.

You can count me in on it. Without the "deplorables" Trump loses the election. I believe that with full confidence. I don't think every person who voted Trump is deplorable, some just don't care about his clearly racist, misogynistic, bigoted views as long as it pushes their own selfish agenda further along the tracks.

Others such as yourself Sarge, well I just can't comprehend. We have different views of the world my friend. I have never seen you behave in a manner to indicate you would be supportive of such a person, yet here we are. *Shrug*

Pushing liberal "librul" (really?) and leftist ideals aside as something sinister is plain stupid. There isn't any other way to put it. I don't agree with every conservative notion and surely I will never be a Republican, but I don't wish to vilify the entire group simply because they don't back my horse.

I'll tell you this. If Trump was a Democrat, I would have voted Republican. The man himself is deplorable.

Mike, you may as well invite Luke back into the fray. You aren't setting the bar any higher.

+1 on freeing luke. One of the few realist mf'ers on here lol

There is nothing wrong the the electoral college. It's in place to give state rights and that's exactly what it does. Liberal douchebags scream Trump will be defeated in a fair democratic election, and then when they are crushed they go the complete opposite way and say the system needs to be changed even though the rules were completely predetermined and understood from the beginning. Guess what, that's how our democracy works. Obama himself admitted it's a clean and fair loss. Get over it and move on, otherwise you are doing nothing but further dividing the already hugely divided nation.

Obama, Hillary Clinton, and the disgusting and corrupt democratic party have done nothing but set the entire globe on the course for war and severely disturb racial relations within the US. Under their failed leadership we've seen such depressing and horrific things it's actually not very hard to see why the American people were able to come together and overthrow the potential disaster we would have seen with HRC, one of the most corrupt and unfit candidates in the history of American politics. I'm almost surprised she didn't lose even worse, but I'll take the landslide we got.

Trump is the best direction America has, and the American people have spoken. Period.

but... Don is sexist, ableist, sexist, misogynist, islamophobic, phobic, sexist, mean, racist, classist, istist, phobicist, homophobe, etc!!

haha shut the fuck up, you have no argument and I hope you feel like a complete idiot for actually thinking your politically correct bullshit virtue signalling would be a real argument. Next time, stop for a second and actually think because it turns out you are quite out of touch with the world. People with this argument are the actual racists and you aren't fooling people anymore with your scaremongering and bullying. Try to defend your policies next time or you're looking at Trump 2020. See you then!

MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, GOD BLESS AMERICA

I said before, during, and after the election that I disapprove of the electoral college. I still maintain that position.

Yes, pointing out racism makes you the actual racist. That makes perfect sense and I can see no glaringly obvious lapses in logic that would be apparent to a three year old.

Oh boy protests started last night as soon as Trump was announced as the candidate. The local college took it to the streets, attempted to block I5 Freeway and one girl was accidentally struck by a car. Take a guess how many actually voted. You would think college students would know better then to play on the freeway!

http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/new ... story.html

At least 500 UC San Diego students marched through the La Jolla campus and onto Interstate 5 early Wednesday to protest Donald Trump’s presidential victory. One of the protesters was struck and injured by a vehicle as the crowd spilled onto the freeway, the California Highway Patrol said.

Videos posted on social media showed students chanting “F--- Donald Trump” and “Not my president” as they walked through the Gilman Drive campus. There were no immediate reports of violence.

University police said the crowd turned out shortly after midnight and grew to include at least 500 people. Protests made their way onto the nearby south Interstate 5 on-ramp from La Jolla Village, with at least some of them trickling onto the freeway, the CHP said. One person was struck by a vehicle about 1:45 a.m. and taken to a hospital, but no other details about the crash or the victim’s injuries were available. San Diego police shut down the on-ramp once the group walked back onto the streets.
