Atheists and agnostics can be dicks about their beliefs just as easy as the faithful; but if you're one of the faithful you are probably more likely to only see the non-believers acting up.
Same thing works, vice-versa. No matter the demographic, you'll find jerks within.
Anyone switching to a credit union with what's going on?

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Care about what? Did you read the posts? It was a shot at religion for sake of a shot at religion, typical of the person who did it. The 20% are free to care about not being religious, absolutely. No one said differently.General_Norris wrote:Probably because the remaining 20% also care about it.mjmjr25 wrote:With that said, I never quite understand why one would go out of there way to make a negative comment on something 80%+ of us care about.
There are a literally hundreds of times myself, and other racketeers of faith, have purposely held back posts with a religious bent for the explicit sake of not pushing beliefs on other members.
For example, earlier in the this very thread, as some folks are so bent out of shape about these corrupt bankers and investors that they feel they should spend their days as part of occupy protests. My personal inclination is to say, there is only one judge, and there time will come. Be mindful to take the log out of your own eye before pointing at the sliver in the eye of your neighbor...but, I didn't say that, for respect of the members of this community, who would not want to hear that view - so I presented it from a secular view. That is what upsets me personally, those in this community who can not offer rhetoric without insulting or disrespecting others beliefs and opinions.

Ain't that the sad truth.Flake wrote:Atheists and agnostics can be dicks about their beliefs just as easy as the faithful; but if you're one of the faithful you are probably more likely to only see the non-believers acting up.

Though on religion specifically, I can't tell you how many times someone turned their back on me as soon as they found out I'm not religious. And that's without arguing or debating the point, just answering the question that they asked.
What can you do?
I think this topic might be heading toward dangerous territory though.

mjmjr25: You shouldn't feel as if you have to hide your religion. I know you already don't, since it's on your signature, but all the same, if that's what you truly believe, say it! There's a difference between offering your religious beliefs as opinions, and forcefully trying to shove it down a person's throat. That's part of the great freedom we have, and we all should fight to preserve it.

^This. No matter what a person believes, as long as it is part of their identity without being part of their agenda, that person adds to the collective whole.o.pwuaioc wrote:There's a difference between offering your religious beliefs as opinions, and forcefully trying to shove it down a person's throat. True...but, how often do we see threads derailed as soon as an argument is supported by a person's belief system, or a religious text, etc. The few times I have cited personal (religious) beliefs for my stance, it has turned hostile quickly and that is never my intent.Flake wrote:^This. That's unfortunate.mjmjr25 wrote: The few times I have cited personal (religious) beliefs for my stance, it has turned hostile quickly and that is never my intent.

I very much read every single post in this thread.mjmjr25 wrote:Care about what? Did you read the posts? It was a shot at religion for sake of a shot at religion, typical of the person who did it. Care about the exactly same thing the other 80% does. I have gone out of my way to make negative comments on religion, politics, art and society very often and will do it again as long as it's neccesary.
Why should I respect your beliefs? I respect you but our beliefs can go to hell. That is what upsets me personally, those in this community who can not offer rhetoric without insulting or disrespecting others beliefs and opinions.
It's important to remember that your beliefs directly disrepec and insulting the beliefs of millions of Jews and Muslims in the world! Why would I respect your beliefs they don't respect other's beliefs?
EDIT: Derp dem quotes

I could say something inflammatory about liberals if that would steer the thread in a better direction.AppleQueso wrote:God fucking dammit did you people REALLY have to steer this thread in the religion direction?
