For some reason, the Happy Birthday song really makes me cringe. And not just when it's being sung at me, but even if I'm just in the room. Maybe it's because people tend to give it this slow and drawn out tempo, like something more fitting for a funeral, rather than being upbeat and cheery. And the usual lack of harmonizing doesn't help either.

Once when I was younger, I made my family sing the birthday song from Futurama to me instead of the traditional copyrighted song. I knew I couldn't avoid getting out of having a cake with candles and people singing at me, but this made it tolerable.

Thanks to a copyright challenge by a documentarian (making a documentary about the song) the history of the “traditional” Happy Birthday is now more known, and the song is officially in the public domain in the US.

Wait, so they can sing it in restaurants now...

But seriously... Is that documentary available anywhere? As much as that song irritates me, the documentary sounds interesting.

Here's a short documentary about the legal battle with Warner Chapell.

I was wrong, the suit didn't come out of the documentary. It came about as a result of some earlier work she did. Here's the WP article about the filer of the suit.

About to spend a pretty penny on my truck AC. It's a must in Texas, especially hauling kidsos & driving to client sites in dress clothes.

Better than a truck note (paid off)... but ouch. Adulting can be challenging.

On a funny note... the dealership loaner I think could fit in the bed of my truck . I feel like I'm in Italian job.

In all seriousness... my truck is ~5 inches longer than suburban & ~3 inches longer than an excursion. I felt like I was in a go kart 8)

LOL. That movie made me want to get a Mini Cooper. I love in the remake when you first see the classic Mini, and she pulls into a spot that a motorcycle pulled out of, then the camera cuts to a wide shot and it's in between two big SUVs.

The video game was actually a lot of fun.

 Eighty hours between Food Lion and Duck Donuts!

:) But I'm off from Duck Donuts for the next two days.

:D and off from Food Lion the day after tomorrow.

:D That's also the day I'm supposed to get my new Crock-Pot and Magic Bullet. I had to throw out the bowl, S-blade and lid to my recently purchased food processor when I went too long without washing it.

 Sink's still fucked up. I can still wash dishes but the pipes aren't secured right so I have to hope I can get the bucket under my sink dumped before it overflows. Really gotta get my dad to fix it, but he says there's a problem under the house that he has to fix first.

You’re an adult. Read up a little on sink plumbing and take a look at it with your own eyes. I try not to mess with plumbing when I can help it, but I can afford a plumber. And when I couldn’t afford or wait, I’d get under there myself.
