I will always contend that by far the best part of that game is the built in arcade games that you can play in-game.
Anyways, I wouldn't mind an Ys game. I think it'd be fun to try Daggerfall too though. There wasn't really anything like it at the time and it's amazing how many elements from it are still in Oblivion and Morrowind.

I still prefer Ys 1 for a suggestion. its the start fo the series, and it's on SMS, TGCD, VC, PSP, DS, PC and a whole crapload of others, especially if you import.
