I think those who are pissed at one "whiner" are missing the point. Sony made this decision. And they certainly didn't make it based on one guy's observation. That may have started it, but it comes down to one thing: money. It's been said many times, but I'll say it again -- these companies only exist to sell shit and make money. If they see something that might threaten the bottom line, whether it's boycotts, bad press, or simply fewer people buying the game, they will do what they can to mitigate that. What they do NOT want is the dumbass media running a ton of stories about this one teeny, tiny, insignificant aspect of an otherwise groundbreaking game. (And believe me, many media outlets would -- think about what Fox News did with Mass Effect.) They also don't want rallies by religious extremists looking for an excuse to rail against "first world" companies and ideas. (And remember Sony recently tangled with the Church of England over Resistance, which got a lot of bad press, too.)
I think the point made earlier about this being an "E" rate game aimed at a wide, Wii-like audience also has a lot to do with it. They want this game to be huge, and are taking no chances.
As for the "white religion" thing, it's worth noting that Moz lives in Kansas. I live in the Missouri Ozarks and hear the same junk around these parts. It's total and complete bullshit both as a phrase and as a way of thinking, but hey, unfortunately, it exists.

Except EA who think they are above the consumer. EA also share this same mentality with Sony who think, "no matter what, people will buy our games/system so why not put stupid DRM in/shaft the consumer by removing features."
At least Sony are listening to the consumer this time around. I don't necessarily agree that they should have changed a game based on one person. It seems a little extreme. At the end of day religion should stay away from business. I don't think any company has to bend it's operating procedure to fit anybody's religion. It should be the same rules for everybody. It's the only way for anything to be just and fair.
An example was a place where I used to work and an Islam employee demanded to have a prayer room and x amount of breaks during the day to pray. The company just bent to it. Spent a couple of grand on a 'prayer room' . It never got used. He took his breaks to pray and went outside to smoke instead. Now this isn't fair on everybody else who has to pull the slack because he's off taking 6 breaks a day. If management say anything he pulls the religion card and that they are being 'racist' and 'discriminating'. Now a friend of mine who was Islam, never took extra breaks, prayed in his personal breaks and lunchtime and never complained and was extremely ashamed of the other guys behaviour.
I'm all for equal rights etc but other people shouldn't have to suffer for it just because some minority shouts and screams loud enough that he isn't getting what he is 'entitled' to. That's abusing your status as a minority. Which, in this country, aren't much of a minority any more.

RadarScope1 is right. As I noted in my post on the other page, this isn't about race. It's about bad decision making by Sony and one opportunistic clown.
Guys, guys, don't be essentially the same guy as solid_08 by entertaining discussion that this is actually about religion. It's not. It's about extremism and ridiculous corporate level decisions.

No one uses it as a way to say whites are superior. It's just a lazy way to list off Christianity, Catholicism, and anything else where 95% of the members and the characters in the stories are white. I'm pretty sure I've even heard it on the news more than once. I'm not going to pretend to be educated about any of this, because religion has never interested me.

Except that where I live, in the ozarks, people DO use it that way.

(Not saying you did, only pointing this out to the guys who say they never heard it before.)

Meh, it is what it is.
I for one am sick and tired of people of any and all faiths controlling my life. Maybe I am sick of caring how they feel about the stories they believe in. I think any sane deity would kick their ass for being to damn uptight all the time.

Me too.
Im atheist not to offend anybody, but I feel that Ive got better things to worry about in life than pleasing a greater power of some sort. I respect if you are religious but this just further proves that people need to chill. This thread just feels like an incredibly stupid idea. Im also w/ racket, this is just an excuse to give the team more time to polish the game. Now if you'll excuse me im off to listen to some Styx and further watch you people make funny comments on this thread.
Older. Not wiser.
Re: Little Big Planet DELAYED because of muslim!
If some white American soccer mom found out that little Johnny was playing a game that chanted Islamic verses at him... she'd be right on the phone to Sony.
As a card carrying Atheist (with a Muslim girlfriend lol) I want this track removed. I don't believe ANY type of religious material belongs in this game be it Islamic, Jewish, Taoist or Scientologist.
Blame the Muslim guy all you want, in the long run he's done us all a favour and made every game developer double check their content for this sort of thing.

That's ridiculous.
I guess I'd also be labeled "Atheist", yet I still have to see and hear different religious content in any form of media and I could care less. Fuck little Johnny. He can put up with hearing whatever the developer wanted in the game. You think that this one Muslim's complaint will get rid of all religions material in video games?

So yeah...
from a collector's point of view, I bet any of the first release versions with probably highly sought after.
...
Ummm... yeah.
What happened to freedom of speech? I get saying "that can be offensive", like with the Muslim who said this about the game (as far as the facts let us know). But ummm, saying that religious phrases don't belong in music, well then throw out about 90% of the music known to man then.
Two things make music, lots of drugs, and lots of God.
