Little Big Planet DELAYED because of muslim!

Post by corn619 »

Now Sony is delaying a game about fun, togetherness and creativity because of one muslim bonehead who thinks he might have heard something about the Quran in the game! This idiot should be happy that his oppresive and negative religion is being shown in a positive light!

I think your anti-religious comments are a bit over the top, but here's the link if anyone is interested

Even if you don't agree with the religion (or religion in general), I'm not going to tolerate talk like that here.

As for the game, I think it's just an excuse for Sony. That's not really worth delaying the game.
I think that it's lamer than Sega claiming to cancel Propeller Arena because of 9/11. Most likely they just wanted to cancel it because they didn't think it was worth it as the Dreamcast was going down.

Reminds me of the Zelda OoT deal, with the chanting in the fire temple song. I just dont understand their logic. They do take their little beliefs way too seriously. The only people who are allowed to promote or enjoy their fables are brown-skinned people, it seems. They just flame up when some other race so much as mentions their religion's characters or ideals.

Why cant we just ignore moaners? USA and Japan aren't their countries, so they really shouldn't have a say in things like this. Sorry. You think if a white person living in Afghanistan bitched about, say, a cartoon comically depicting Jesus (leagues worse than a song respectfully quoting someone), anyone would listen or do anything? Hell no.

I guess I just can't respect a religion that wont politely share it's properties with outsiders.

And I had a close muslim friend for 10 years until recently, but he unfortunately did become an idiot this year. He just suddenly decided that he's religious, out of the blue, and that the way I run my life is not satisfactorily in tune with his new beliefs. He started quoting shit to me, so convinced that he is destined for success, and that I'm bound for failure because I dont look up to anything or believe in an afterlife, or work my hardest every minute of everyday with little sleep. He started becoming extremely depressed and cranky and kinda sickly looking more and more. I know his whole family and they were all pressuring him into this lifestyle. God dammit, it's sad. He was good company before then. Back in high school, I'd have kicked the shit out of anyone who bullied him.

Yeah but the thing that sucked was I had to move just a month before 9/11 happened. I finished high school through an alternate program eventually. But anyway, I got to hear stories of how the prick kids were calling him Bin Laden for the rest of that year.

Kakuto Chojin revisited.

Like racket says, I'm more inclined to say that this is an excuse, rather than the sole reason for the delay.

Agreed. He's done nothing wrong by requesting this removal - maybe he wants to be able to play the game and this would ruin that for him. He has every right to request something be removed from the game. And it seems he did it politely. By contrast, your post title and language suggests bigotry which certainly won't help you win any arguments with most people.

I don't mean to suggest you shouldn't be upset about this. But, any outrage should be directed towards Sony who felt that this concern was worth addressing and delaying the game for. Nothing forced them to make the change, but they did.

That said, I think it is a smart move for an international company like Sony to do this with a game that they want to be a huge international hit. On the other hand I do get irked when companies cave to pressures from religious (or other special interest) groups - especially when it involves censorship. But for something like LBP, I can see the logic behind making the choice.

Sorry, maybe I was a little over the top but I was really looking forward to this game coming out "I took 4 vacation days next week just to play it". This really sucks, it seems people get offended way to easily these days. All it takes is one way to sensitive person to complain about something stupid and companies bow to them in order to avoid bad PR. Its a tough world people and companies need to have thicker skin or they'll be eaten alive. I'm not really anti-religous I just think the true meaning of it has been long lost. I was always taught it was used to promote peace and faith, but it seems to cause a lot of violence and conflict. I think people take it to seriously, I have no problem people believing in a creator or higher power, but when other peoples beliefs start effecting my life is where my problem lies. When your different strokes start effecting my folks nothing good can come from it. Where do you draw the line, for example-I worship potatoes and find the sack boys offensive because they look like the garments I carry my holy potatoes in. I want sony to change the material of the sack boy or my followers and I will file a lawsuit. This may seem like a bad example but I'm a little buzzed "after all its friday night" and this is the best example I could think of. I didn't mean to offend anyone I guess my frustration got the best of me, again I apologize.
