I'm just finishing off a period of having to take about 15 exams in 2 weeks, but I can't wait for that to be done so I can play my new Wii. My girlfriend of 1 year bought it for me a month ago for my 18th birthday. I still need to finish Twilight Princess. I got Red Steel too but unfortunately that didn't live up to the hype.

When I'm not revising, me and my buddies at college (which in the UK is where you go from 17-18, prior to university) tend to play a lot of multiplayer DS games. Mario Kart 8 player is a favourite, but Tetris DS and Animal Crossing tend to get played often too. We're also super excited for the release of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl in a few months - we have regular battles on Pokémon Sapphire. We tend to play the games whilst listening to the jukebox in the student cafeteria. I tend to put on Red Hot Chilli Peppers, love that By The Way album, even though it's a few years old now. The recent Stadium Arcadium album is OK, but I don't like it as much.

It's nice to have all these awesome games to play between all these exams. I'm also a bit concerned because my parents are planning to move a few hundred miles away this summer, after my exams finish, which means I'll have to leave my girlfriend behind, unless I find another way around it. Me and a few friends are thinking about renting a house until we leave for University. Speaking of which, I need to decide which universities I'll be applying for soon.

How could I forget the greatest part of gaming for 2007 for me, upgrading from my shuttle to a "modern" gaming pc. My shuttle pc was built in 04 to play Half Life 2. It struggled with Battlefield 2 and Oblivion. In late 07 I hit a windfall and found a Dell Inspiron 530 for sale for cheap on Dell Small business returns - Q6600, 2 gigs of ddr2, and a 500gig harddrive. I upped it to 4gigs and added a 9600gt. All in all it was $450 to get the machine and the extra parts. It played everything I threw at it until last year when we were playing Killing Floor 2. I swapped out the gpu for a 960 and still game on it every couple days. I did recently swapout the dvd burner for a second harddrive (pc games have gotten huge recently).

In 07 I had it hooked up to two 15inch CRTs, my old p4 tower was hooked up to a 15inch LCD, and the Shuttle shared a 24inch CRT with a Dreamcast on a KVM. It was actually a pretty killer setup. The shuttle pc is now a Stepmania based DDR machine - Athlon xp 1800+, 2 gigs of ddr, 5600 gt. That thing is solid as a rock.

I still play Madden 08 on the PC. It is the last football game released that the community still updates rosters for every yer.

Gametap defined my 2007. After finally getting broadband, I'd spend nearly every minute of my life there. Where else could you play:

Arcade games
Atari systems
Intellivision
SMS
Genesis
32X
Neo Geo
Saturn
Dreamcast
PC
C64

all in one place on your computer without having to own any of the hardware? Plus special videos with game developer interviews, gaming history and other stuff? It's too bad in about 2 short years after that, they sold out to a French company, the catalog dropped sharply due to publishers pulling out, and the player application all but ended. I even won one of their contests, it got me a Gametap shirt, a poster and a copy of the 2008 Guinness World Records Video Game Edition.

2007 also brought The Simpsons Movie. Nuff said.

Well, back in 2007 I would've been 11, so I have almost no idea what I would've been doing.

I guess if 4th gen Pokemon came out that year I would've been playing that a fair bit. That was also around the time I discovered the internet and Youtube, so I was slowly becoming addicted to watching AVGN videos, and getting super into this whole world of retro gaming that existed outside of the SNES and N64 I had growing up.

I was getting over one best friend moving back to Canada (and his parents going through an awful divorce), as well as meeting my new best friend (whom I would eventually come to despise).

Games I'm pretty sure I bought and played that year:

Rogue Galaxy
Super Paper Mario
Odin Sphere
Tomb Raider Anniversary (I might have cheated and downloaded this on PSP initially)
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
Super Mario Galaxy
Contra 4

It's hard to believe, but I don't think I had a 360 at that point, and I'm pretty sure I was playing on my old 27" Panasonic CRT, rockin' the awesome S-Video. (Seriously, that TV was nice, hated it when the vertical deflection circuit went bad.)

Come to think of it, I don't think I had my current job at that point, either. I was rockin' the grad stipend for teaching labs. Started the new job in 2008, so I'm coming up on nine years. (Nine years! Wow.)

(those are timestamped from 2007 anyway)

Otherwise, I'd been at my (still current) job since 2006, and was still doing Halo nights with folks from church. Hence why I got an Xbox 360 (for Christmas) and Halo 3 shortly thereafter. I never actually played the campaign until a couple years or so ago though. I also played through Fable II shortly after getting the system...not much else though.

Definitely played Bioshock as well, since I remember preordering the CE from Gamestop, and then them selling it before I stopped by because they'd shortened the hold time. Transferred one in for me though.

Got the Orange Box for Christmas at the same time as I got my Macbook, so I first played through Portal via Boot Camp and Intel Graphics. It worked well enough.

In 2007 I got married and was still working through FFX and Skies of Arcadia. The only games that were released in 2007 that I played in 2007 were:
Sam and Max: Season One
Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure
Super Mario Galaxy

2007 was a shit show year for me from a personal perspective, but a tremendous one from a gaming one. That year I found out my fiancee of the time (not the woman I'm married to now) was cheating on me, so I kicked her out of my life (and home). I fell into a quagmire of depression and fierce anger, and was terribly antisocial for a good long while afterwards. I decided to drown my sorrows in gaming, so I went and bought a PS2, Xbox, and GameCube all at once. Before then, I hadn't owned any of those consoles. So I was then able to experience the best of those consoles back to back to back. We're talking Resident Evil 4, Shadow of the Colossus, and Metal Gear Solid 3 all in one run, that kind of thing. It sure did wonders to keep my mind off the bad taste of a failed relationship (to a degree anyway). So 2007 was the year I finally joined the sixth generation of gaming and fell back in love with gaming again.

My first thought was VH1's I love the XX's - I miss that show.
I still had a Windows Mobile OS phone with a slide-out keyboard (HTC TyTn 2 iirc). I had that thing mastered as a digital controller and was re-playing a lot of my disc games for PS1 and Sega CD. It had a perfect resolution for emulation, so having the correct tweaking apps and overclocking the CPU could achieve perfect emulation on the screen if I tewaked the video stuff just right. There were a handful of good exclusive games I was playing too, but I'm not at home to dig through the backup archives to find their names...
I re-played a lot of FF7, Lunar and or course the Megaman Legends games. I also remastered my Ren & Stimpy DVDs to perfectly play on TCPMP (The Core Pocket Media Player) to take full advantage of the optimizations and bandwidth capabilities. Also, I had room on my Micro SD card for the full Wikipedia text archive as well as offline topography maps for my 2"x3" bluetooth GPS external li-ion-battery powered accessory module.
I was way more amazed at the fact that I could emulate monochrome Palm-Pilot games on my phone than anyone else I showed it to.
Way more stuff happened in my life, but that's what I choose to remember
