Re: Owlboy is out
Are you saying you paid money for a burned disc, rather than a pressed one?
PLAY KING'S FIELD.
Re: Owlboy is out
If that's what they did, apparently so. I'm not terribly pleased about it. I mean, cool packaging and all, and a Steam code, but if I'm going to order a special edition game, it should be a pressed CD/DVD, not a burned one! I doubt I'll ever order anything from these guys again.
The sad part? Their Axiom Verge release in partnership with GameTrust was just fine. And all their other releases were apparently pressed CDs/DVDs. I really don't know why they would do something like this, but I sure hope that they make it right; perhaps some sort of wanting to get the discs to users in a timely manner whilst waiting for the real deal? I seriously doubt that.
I'm not going to raise a huge stink about it, but I've emailed them to let them know my disappointment, and I know I'm not the only one.

Re: Owlboy is out
confirmed... mine is a DVD-R as well. Which is weird. I just went and checked the other disc games I've bought from them and they are all pressed otherwise. Wow. I'm kind of let down as well. Not furious, but let down.
I've sent an email as well letting them know that I'm not pleased.

Thanks for the confirmation, noise. Hopefully they'll do something to make it right.
Re: Owlboy is out
That's kind of sleazy. Don't these real copies usually end up going for like $30-40 with some added fluff in the box like the Steamworld Dig title I had? Anyone could make a DVDr by just buying it on GoG of all things as that's a stand alone too.
Also find it strange indiebox has no listing for Owlboy, irregardless if they sell out of a game or not they still list they made it with a SOLD OUT stamp on it. There's no entry I can find. Google shows it at 29.99, but the link is dead, they scrubbed it.

Re: Owlboy is out
It used to be under "Standard Editions". But you're right, I don't see it anymore. I know from reading another thread that it was apparently a very limited run (in the hundreds), so I dunno.
And yes, it was $29.99, with $5 shipping.

Re: Owlboy is out
Other games they did had very limited runs, and I know that one with the snes controller knockoff was one and even that's listed. Like I said, seems like a shady cover up if you want to get into conspiracy theory stuff. Maybe they're catching more crap than you think over the cheap burn.

Re: Owlboy is out
This was a limited run in the sense it was not part of their regular monthly releases.
