I looked at the picture of their challenge sandwich and I could feel my arteries blocking.marurun wrote:Melt
Home of crazy grilled cheese. Some of them are quite awesome. And they have a wonderful beer list to accompany their fine sammiches.
What should a sandwich have in it?

+1 as well from me. Dependent on the meat, sometimes cheese as well, but I'm a simple guy.Hobie-wan wrote:Meat.

If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.

I agree with almost every word you've said here. The only part that baffles me is, "the day after thanksgiving". That's always been leftovers day for me.irixith wrote:Sandwich making is a delicate art. The key is in the freshness of the ingredients. Bread should be fresh from the bakery, or your own breadmaker, should you be a serious aficionado. Unsliced, so that you may choose the bread thickness in proportion to the type of sandwich being made. If using meats and cheeses, sourced fresh appropriately. None of this pre-packaged, flash-frozen, looks like meat but isn't really, processed cheese product, etc. Vegetables, the same. Sourced as fresh as possible from your favourite place, cut and sliced during the moment of sandwich assembly.
Absolutely nothing is quite like biting into a freshly prepared sandwich. It's practically a sexual experience. My favourite sandwich of 2014 came about the day after thanksgiving dinner. We'd had this delicious picnic ham (prepared rind on, there is no exception), a ton of fresh vegetables cooked/steamed appropriately, scalloped potatoes prepared from scratch, the works. I cut two big hunks of fresh rye bread, and used the scalloped potatoes as my spread. Some finely sliced steamed veggies and some thick hunks of ham followed, the works was warmed slightly, and garnished with a slice of pineapple. The neighbours probably heard the moans at least ten houses down.
In short, fuck yeah sandwiches.
Otherwise, fuck yeah fresh sandwiches.
The best answer so far. I tip my fancy hat to you, sir.TSTR wrote:love

You just have to put the leftovers into a sandwichsamsonlonghair wrote: I agree with almost every word you've said here. The only part that baffles me is, "the day after thanksgiving". That's always been leftovers day for me.

These guys know what's up.MrPopo wrote:Maybe a little bit of cheese. But otherwise I agree with this. If you're doing cold cuts them the meat should be spread flat and piled 2" thick on some rye.Hobie-wan wrote:Meat.
