4. Go to more flea markets this year.
One thing I personally want to try to do is go to LESS flea markets. I only got into this two summers ago, but it seems just from 2013 to 2014 things just got far more competitive/started drying up. The summer of '13 was hit and miss with a nice score every month or so. The summer of '14 was mostly just wasted time and a lot afternoon naps quite frankly.
I am going to try to simply drive 30-60 minutes in no particular direction, find civilization, and troll around some neighborhoods looking for yard sale signs. In other words, try to find some sales that are off the grid (i.e., Craigslist). In my area I honestly think that might be the last hope.
If that doesn't work I will resort to sleeping in and simply buying from people on sites like this one. It'll be far more quality than quantity, but I'll save a lot of time. I have like 600 hobbies so it's quickly becoming a fool's errand going to these flea markets.

Yeah I might do this as well. Thrift stores too. I rarely go "on the hunt" anymore. Instead I just sit at home and buy games online. Probably miss some great deals that way.

I'm trying to shrink my backlog. This year I'd like to beat AT LEAST 2 games for each 1 I buy. Ideally I'll get the ratio up to 3:1 but I'm not so sure how easy that will be. I want my backlog down to AT LEAST 290 unbeaten games.
My most specific gaming goal for the year is playing through Final Fantasy XII. When that game was the newest in the series, I set out to play the entire numbered/core series in order. IT'S MY FINAL ONE FOR THIS OBLIGATION. Also one of my friends keeps telling me it's his favorite so I'd like to be able to know at least a little bit about it!
I'd also like to play through Dragon Quest IX, which will have me caught up with the main Dragon Quest games. Then there are games I've owned for an embarrassing number of years but have never played; I wish I didn't like RPGs which always end up taking me a long time to get through...

1. Beat at least 60 games I've never beaten before
2. Beat at least 2 Final Fantasy, 2 Fire Emblem and 1 Dragon Quest game
3. Start and finish an alphabet marathon - play through an A-Z of unbeaten games
4. Limit the number of games being bought, if not necessarily the money spent overall. 2-3 games a month is plenty.
5. Beat a game I've not beaten before on all major consoles I own (exemptions for more obscure systems like Virtual Boy & Pokémon Mini).

(and yes ff1 will be beat, I have a memory card on the way just not on the plate to be played until at least september or october considering all the others I have to play first)
why do you have to play the others first?
Because ff1 isn't as old as aback log item as quest for camelt and toy story 2 plus a bunch of other games I own....I want to beat it but not before taking the time to eliminate some of the older titles in the log...

I didn't end up posting in 2014's thread but the big thing I accomplished (we'll start there) was going through my entire collection and selling off items I didn't see myself ever playing. I sold off my SMS, 3DO, 7800, AES collections plus a bunch of other games.
I used those funds to purchase flash carts for NES, SNES, GEN (so SMS included) and TG/PCE (My PCE Duo-R was a survivor of the purge) as well as added to my NES, SNES and Wii collections.
Which leads me to 2015. After years of stockpiling and empty "I'll play all the games" promises - this year is a NO GAME NEW YEAR* for me. All backlog, all the time. A $0.00 amount of new money will be used on gaming.
*With a small caveat of gifts, gift cards (amazon, etc), rewards points (tied to amazon) and any funds from items sold being allowed to go towards gaming purchases. Also anything like PS+ games or club Nintendo freebies are fine.
Other goals:
- Keep selling off what I won't play or games I dislike after finally sitting down to play. I'm targeting my PSP collection next.
- Play a lot and actually make a list of what I've played. Participate in the Games Beaten thread here, as well as the "What are you playing" thread to share my thoughts.
- I tracked my collection previously with Collectorz and this past year went all-in at RFGen. I want to keep up with cultivating those lists - which include my digital eShop, PSN, XBLA libraries (surprising amount of titles just there).
- This past year I set up a GOG account and made a lot of purchases. Due to time restraints (baby), my gaming is more geared towards quick hitters at the moment, but I would like to dive into some of the strategy and RPG games I grabbed.
- I used to set a goal of Together Retro but I'll only commit to the Mario Golf month, so anything else is a bonus!

Play and enjoy what I have, instead of trying to have what I think I want to play and enjoy.

I like this idea. It sounds like a lot of fun.

Everyone whip out their Quartet and Xexyz carts.
