The only problem with the PS1 version of FFVI, is the dreadful load times before and after battles, and yes i say dreadful and mean it.

After playing the SNES version for long periods, and then going to the PS1 version youll be like screaming at your screen "OMG HURRY UP ALREADY UGG!!!"

At least thats how i feel about the PS1 vs SNES versions.

The 3DS eShop really needs the GBA version of FFVI, or they need to start adding SNES classics on the 3DS eShop.

PSN load times should be fine though, I would think.

I always had at least one character equipped with the speed shoe things, so it was literally every five steps. Every five steps. The whole game. If you don't consider that bad/annoying/frustrating, then you guys must have some incredible patience.

Do you play many RPGs from the 8/16-bit era? The encounter rate isn't any worse than Dragon Quest 1-6, Lufia, Breath of Fire 1/2, Mother, Magic Knight Rayearth, Phantasy Star 1-4, or Final Fantasy 1-5. Revisit an old RPG. They're all like this.

So much love went into every detail of FF6 that it's hard for me to ever put it down. I just picked up the GBA version a few weeks ago and i'm going through it right now. This will always be my favorite RPG of all time.

Stark wrote:Cool, thanks for looking that up, didn't have my Vita with me. Yeah look for Suikoden for example. Not in the store for the Vita, but you can get around it by downloading it to the PS3 and then moving it the Vita. Other PS1 titles, can be bought on PSN, but not even moved. You pretty much have to search on the Internet to figure out if it will work or not. Complete crapshoot.

Oh! Well thanks for making me look LIKE AN IDIOT STARK!!!! YOU'RE RUINING MY LIFE I HATE YOU! (runs up into room and slams the door)

I never felt there was a problem with the encounter rate either. Felt like any other RPG to me in that regard. Saying you get a battle every 5 steps is a exaggerating it a bit too.

So much better when I imagine your avatar saying this.

Oh and with raising three girls I'm sure I'll never hear anything like the above, so thanks for giving me a glimpse of my future. :?

I agree that the details really do make the game. I still remember waiting for it to finally be released. Day one purchase on the SNES - I think it was like $75 back then too. Worth every penny.
