1. Play games with the hopes of beating them.

Setting goals kind of sucks the fun out of gaming for me and I'd rather game with spontaneity.

In no particular order:

1. Play through the rest of the Wario Land series (I only need to beat Wario Land (VB) and Wario Land: Shake It! (Wii).)

2. Start a series, and play though all of the games in it (There are some recent series - such as Devil May Cry, Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, Uncharted, etc. - that I have never touched. I would like to pick one and play through all of the games in one of those series in chronological order.)

3. Finally push through both Nectaris: Military Madness (PS1) and Return Fire (PS1) ( I respect both game immensely - and I have sunk hours into each one - I just do not have the will power to finish them, however.)

4. Finish collecting at least one sub-set of 2600 games (I suspect I will acquire the rest of the Activision "standard label" games at some point this year.)

5. Acquire a PSP and mod it

6. Acquire an Atari 7800

7. Finish off one of my collection (I only need to 20 games to complete my N64 collection and 33 games to finish off my Xbox collection. None of the games I require are particularly expensive; so, I suspect that - with a few internet purchaes - I can finish off one or the other before the end of the year.)

8. Continue to amass PS3 and Wii games (It is currently a great time to be buying used games for those systems.)

9. "Complete" all of the games in my collection that missing their manuals (15 games in my collection are missing their manuals, and it is driving me CRAZY!)

10. Photograph my collection and post the pictures to the forums (For most of my collection, this will not be that hard. I just need to do it.)

11. Grab all of the game I want from PSN and WiiWare store while they are still available

12. Play through all of the non-RPG games in one or more of my collections (This is a long-shot, but I do not think it would be that difficult for me to play through all of the non-RPG games in my 3DS, Gameboy, or Wii collections.)

1. Continue not collecting games.

2. Maybe finish some PS2 games I have been wanting to.

3. Play games more than I talk about them.

I'm going to buy fewer games and spend more time with the ones I have. Try to master a few I really like.

On a similar note I'd like to get better at the shmups I own, specifically Under Defeat, Ikaruga and Thunderforce IV.

Instead of buying X amount of games cheap I may just buy one new release or moderately priced retro game a month. Get some of those import saturn games I've had my eye on or save up for Panzer Dragoon Saga.

I'm also going to join in with as many Together retro threads as I can.

1. PLAY MORE GAMES.

Seriously, I will rarely pass up a good deal. So, I buy the hell out of games. But, I rarely make time to play games. I usually spend my free time "interweb grazing". I will visit RB to look at the new posts, then to FB to see whats in my feed, then to Youtube to check out videos, then to Destructiod to look for new stories, then back to RB, then back to FB. After I've burned up 75% of the free time I had I think to myself "I just spend an hour and a half doing nothing, I should have played a game. Oh well, maybe tomorrow". This will end this year. I will play those games that I spend my hard working money on.

2. Beat the games I do play.

When I do get buried in a game I will play it like crazy for the time I get with it. Then something pulls me away. My weekend gets spend doing things around the house, I do something with the family, whatever. Then the next time I get to play games, I don't want to move on to something else. I have tons of games that are played, but hardly any get finished.

3. Spend no more than $20 per game.

Of course this will be hard to do. But, what I really mean is: Spend no more than $20 unless its a hard to find game, and even then it has to be a good deal. Now I do have some games on pre-order (like 2 or 3), but those will be the only ones that I pay a lot for.

4. Let my wife get more game time in.

My wife is a wonderful woman. She is a stay at home mom, but she is also a working mom. She is a full time college student and runs a photography business. Plus is the major care giver to our children. So, she stays on the go. However, she will make sure that I get time to decompress and play games when we can fit it in. So, this year I'm going to make sure she gets that opportunity returned to her. She plays some of your typical AAA games like Bioshock and Skyrim, but she also likes The Sims and even silly Face Book games. But, she still needs her time with them as much as I do.

5. Reduce Stress and Be Happy. (Not gaming related, but oh well.)

My real New Years Resolution this year is to learn to let things go. I stay high strung and stressed out over everything, even when it doesn't need to be stressed about. So, I plan to change that this year. I hope to learn that I can't control everything and to not get agitated when that situation comes along. I know it will make my family happier, which will make me happier.

There is probably more, but this is all I can think of right now.

I want to beat (or at least make a serious attempt at beating) at least two games for every one I buy. Even when there's an awesome sale. Even if there's a preorder bonus I may never be able to get again.
...we'll see how well I manage to do.

THERE ARE SO MANY GAMES I WANT TO PLAY. AND SO MANY OF THEM I ALREADY OWN WHAT AM I EVEN DOING WASTING TIME POSTING ON A FORUM WAAAH!

- Participate in a decent number of Together Retro play throughs. This is the first calender I actually voiced my opinion in, and I like a lot of the games that were picked, so I'll likely play at least half of the games there, probably more.

- Buy Ape Escape. Because I still can't emulate it well. :x

- Learn more Dota 2 - if I have time that is.

- Get to Gold in League of Legends or try when the new season starts.

- Catch up on PS3 games since I just bought one and PSN+ is hot.

- Possibly catch up on Wii games. Depends if I get bored playing PS3 stuff.

- Either buy a PSP or a next gen system/handheld.

Not planning on doing a lot of retro gaming this year, I played too many old games last year, need to switch it up with some modern stuff. Together Retro's calender will keep me occupied, and I might join in on the Ogre Battle playthrough in the RPG club.
