Cool SG! How do P90's sound on an SG? I've never played one before. I hate the SG's top hat knobs. I replaced mine with speed knobs.
Ah, I forgot about effects! These days, most of the time I'm playing it's in my bedroom on my small combo amp. But when I play on my main rig, I love to use effects. Kinda weird tho, I have a lot of effect pedals without actually having a lot of effects.
Delay: Ibanez DL10 and Boss DD3
Back in the early days, I never had foot switchable reverb on my amp. When I got my first half stack, the reverb on the head was broken. So, I started to use a delay pedal as more of a reverb than an echo. I had a few shitty ones before getting the DL10. It's one of those Ibanez pedals from the 80's, back when they use to make good pedals. Those things are built like tanks. It doesn't have the longest delay, so I later got the Boss DD3 to use for longer (echo) delays and now I use the DL10 exclusively for "reverb". I set it short, like a that classic "slap back" effect, pretty much just for soloing.
Flanger: Ibanez DFL and Boss BF2
Ah, the coveted DFL. Another Ibanez 80's pedal. I feel in love with it the first time I heard
this. It's the best flanger, second to none. It's the deepest, most lushest, most controllable flanger. Of course, I couldn't afford one back when so I got my favorite affordable flanger instead, the Boss BF2 (hence my talk earlier about the MIJ and MIT models). I still like the BF2 for certain things, but the DFL is where it's at.
I'm not a big fan of phaser, but I wanted to get one to mess around with. I got the Boss PH3 when I traded my ValveKing into Guitar Center. I really wish I didn't get it, I'm not liking it anymore. And the switch knob broke, but you can't just go out and get a replacement part. I'll have to go thru Boss at some point to get it fixed or see if maybe I could just buy the part off them. I wanna sell it and get the MXR 100 instead. Or possibly the clone of it from BYOC.
Wah: Cry Baby x2
Wah was always my favorite effect. From Voodoo Child to Bulls on Parade. I've had a few over the years, but the Dunlop Cry Baby is really the only one to own. I have the original model. The reason I have two is because I wanted to get more out of my wah and decided to modify it. I got a second one so I could keep one stock and be able to compare the mods tonally. The mods I have done, I've tried out two different fasel inductors, then did various cap and resistor swaps to tweak the tone. Nothing substantial, sadly. Currently, I keep one going on the input and the other thru the effects loop.
DigiTech Whammy: A must have when you wanna play like Morello, but I enjoy using it to just fuck around anyways. I currently have the Whammy "4" but there's a new model out. They've made a few enhancements, but honestly, the thing that really makes me wanna upgrade is that they added the Whammy logo back on the foot pedal like the original. That logo is badass, and the reissues have the DigiTech logo on the pedal which looks bad IMO.
Other than that, I have a few random pedals. I have the Boss tremolo, the DOD EQ, and some others that I don't even bother hooking up.
What I really wanna get is the Electro Harmonix Micro Synth, but it's $300

If you don't know what it is, just picture the song Frankenstein. Along with other sounds you can get from it.
