Castle of Illusion remake incoming

I'd rather a new game with retro-inspired mechanics or design philosophies than a remake.

In other words, I'll take Mega Man 9 or the "Rebirth" series over something like Mega Man Powered Up any day.

I think thats a bad example, as Powered Up adds lots of new content, an entirely new set of levels and tons of custom levels and things on top of the remake of Megaman 1. I get your point though.

I always think there is something wrong with my sound when I see the Sega logo and don't hear someone say "SEGA!"

This looks great! I loved the original, one of my favorite Genesis games.

The 3 doors that mickey is choosing from in the beginning makes me think this won't be either a straight port of the genesis or sms titles, but a 3rd version. Remember - in the genesis version, you didn't choose your world, but rather the game was linear, taking place in a long hallway of doors. In the SMS version, you are presented with 3 doors to choose from, and then upon beating those 3, you are given another 3.

They already showed off the apple, so I know it's loosely based off the genesis version. Hopefully this one will mix the best parts of the 2 versions. It'd be neat to be able to pick up and throw boxes and rocks like in the SMS version, for example. Or gain permanent health upgrades.

The kids are obsessed with Mickey right now, so I'm pretty sure this will be a Day 1 Purchase for me.

Apparently members of the original Castle of Illusion team are being brought back to work on this remake.
