I only keep what I play and buy what I plan on playing. As a result I've gone through a TON of systems throughout my life. I've never owned more than 3 at a time though.

Re: Do you guys hoard systems?
I am guilty of console hoarding. I cannot bring myself to pass up and good deal on a system if I see it, I have 4 Playstation 1 systems right now. Even if the system is broken I still can't bring myself to get rid of it. It is really starting to fill up my closet lol.
I am buying all Saturn games, PM me with your offerings and I will let you know if I need the game or not! (Everything must be CIB)
Currently trying to knock off all the sports games, would like to get them <$5 each! Of course if you would like to donate them I will gladly pay the shipping!

I'm not a hoarder, but i get paranoid- like i'm tempted to get a 'backup' system, just in case my main one breaks, and somehow the world's entire stock of that system suddenly becomes unavailable. Weird, right?

FUUUUCK YEAAAH! As a result of this, I'm able to build a fortress made completely out of Dreamcast consoles. Well maybe a solid barricade wall!Do you guys hoard systems?
But seriously. A nice chunk of my DC consoles are purchased busted for a buck or two. I fix them up and they works as good as new. A few less Dreamcasts in the console graveyard and I've done my good deed.

Re: Do you guys hoard systems?
I have different versions of few systems (NTSC and PAL SNES, Genesis+Japanese&PAL Mega Drive, 2 different looking versions of 3DO, PAL PS1 and NTSC PS One), either for looks or for playing games from another region. I don't hoard systems though, there aren't any shops that sell retro games in the area where I live. I might consider buying extra consoles if they come with stacks of games and sell the consoles.
I personally dislike the idea of having to rely back up consoles. It might be naive, but I don't want to live in fear that my systems break to the point that they will never work again nor be fixable. If all collectors had 1-3 back up consoles of all consoles they own, console prices would be much higher. Can't say that I'm judging you guys though. If I lived in an area where you can walk into a store and get a Dreamcast for 20-30 dollars I'm sure I'd have a extra consoles in my collection. Retro consoles are much more expensive and scarce where I live. You might get lucky in a garage sale or in a place where people don't know the value of the stuff they're selling, but you sure as hell wont see any game stores selling retro consoles for that price.

Seeing all that weight put on top of the consoles at the bottom makes me cringe. I never stack consoles myselfHobie-wan wrote:Random older relevant picture.

I'm more worried of the Dreamcasts.AppleQueso wrote: Those are Xboxes down there, they'll hold up fine!

Dreamcasts have a nice, solid, quality build I think. They'd probably be fine too.Menegrothx wrote:I'm more worried of the Dreamcasts.AppleQueso wrote: Those are Xboxes down there, they'll hold up fine!
Now if you were piling all of that on top of a Ps1...
Re: Do you guys hoard systems?
I only have two consoles stacked on two other consoles. A PSX on top of a PS2. And a Turbo Duo on top of my CD-i. Nothing else is actually flat on top. I'm kind of surprised that the latter stack didn't vaporize in a cool-anticool explosion.
We are prepared to live in the plain and die in the plain!
