Yep. Originally it was a laggy mess, but a patch made it pretty playable. The only catch is that you cannot steal life from the surviving player when you die. The start button is mapped to the game menu so it's impossible. If you die, you're forced to wait for the game over/continue screen. The XBLA release has the same problem.

This isn't really an issue when two people who are very good at the game are playing... or two people who are very bad at the game.

this game has some pretty broken weapon combos, the laser + chaser makes something that just flys around killing everything without having to do anything but hold the fire button. fire +fire makes a huge flamethrower that takes out bosses in seconds. btw anyone want to play some gunstar heroes or guardian heroes? im online right now add me im ninjainspandex (duh!)

Wow, fire is so much better than I remembered (thanks Alienjesus). With double fire you can annihilate anything in seconds (the range is also better than I recalled). Fire/pulse is also cooler than I remembered. I still don't really like the other fire combos though, they're somewhat weaker by comparison. Playing the game without chaser feels kind of weird to me, I almost always incorporated it in previous playthroughs to make the free movement style more usable. It really is a shame they didn't just include a method to plant your character on the ground instead of forcing you to choose a shooting style, although to be fair the Genesis pad didn't have a ton of options for that.

Fire/Chaser and Fire/Lightning are actually the two most powerful weapons, but the former has control problems in free shot, and the latter has terrible range. I still prefer them to fire + force, which is one of my least favourite in the game.

Unfortunately there's no fancy tips here. You just have to jump his charge and move away from his kick. I seem to remember that the slide attack does a lot of damage to him whilst he's on the ground, and you can do that with either down + jump, or a semi circle back to forward and attack for a better slide attack (aka Dhalsim's Yoga Flame).
