Or this (where nostalgia blinded me in my rankings).

VII over IV??? For shame.

*cowers* I have tons of nostalgia for FF VII and it was my gateway to the franchise. Cut me some slack dawg. I think IV is the better game in every way, but VII means a lot to me despite being one of the most flawed entries in the series.

brunoafh wrote:About FF II, although the NES game is an absolute mess and practically unplayable, the GBA/PSP versions really fix the game up and make it a pretty dang solid classic JRPG. I really enjoyed my playthrough of those versions. The bizarre leveling system is still there but the game is really touched up and certainly worth a go.

I would say that the Famicom FF II is the most atrocious, but the remakes aren't bad at all.

Besides that I would say VIII is the one that I just can't seem to enjoy no matter what. I've started it 3 times, and each time I only make it about 4 hours in before I lost interest.

Can't blame you. I enjoyed FFVIII a lot...because I played it right after a breakup. I thought the story and characters were hilarious and I was laughing the whole time. I tried to replay it and I couldn't. Guess the joke's on me.

FFXIII hands down. You guys know me, don't get me started. Especially now that I'm knee deep in the Anti-FFXIII adventure... Xenoblade.

And FFXI / FFXIV suck too for being included in the main series line. Dumb. MMO's suck so I would probably hate them!

Well if we're gonna bring Kingdom Hearts into the mix then I would say those are the worst. Such embarrassingly bad games.

It's really tough to get worse than Final Fantasy II, that game really was a complete mess. The awful character-growth system has you attacking your own party members more than any of the monsters. It's absolutely tedious and not fun.
I played the PS1 version and do you know what happens when you beat the game? A message appears saying that you've unlocked "normal" difficulty... BECAUSE YOU'VE BEEN PLAYING THE GAME ON EASY THE WHOLE TIME. I don't know how anyone got through the Famicom version.

Final Fantasy VIII is terrible in a different way. FFVIII is terrible because of the story, which feels like it was written by a 15-year old except for the fact that it takes around 40 hours to get through. The magic-draw system is annoying too. I always felt like I was doing something wrong because each battle generally lasted around 15 minutes as I drained the enemies of their magic.

I've never played XIV but that's supposed to be especially awful too.

What was so bad about them? The Disney + FFVII turned me off, but I had at least that they were good games (well, not so much the third one).
