I don't think people bash Nintendo systems on the basis of Nintendo games themselves. The larger issue is likely more that Nintendo has often made design decisions for their platforms around what they as a company want to do with software, versus simply making an all-around excellent platform to put games on. Doing so has cost them developer support - had the Wii not sold like hotcakes to the nontraditional gaming markets, Nintendo might be seen as heading down the same path as Sega in terms of alienating developers (which the Wii has still done). The Wii U may see some fallout from that even if it's better equipped, kinda like the N64->Gamecube.

There are objective criticisms to make, as there are of any company/console, which don't necessarily constitute bashing.

Better equipped how? Early rumors are making the next generations look seriously lackluster compared to even current graphics hardware.

While I kinda doubt the Wii U will be anything but the bottom rung once the next MS and Sony consoles hit, it will at least be HD capable. The SD/HD gap between the Wii and PS3/360 now is quite perceptible, even to the non-enthusiast. The next go-round may not be quite as immediately obvious. Even if the Wii U won't push the same level of detail/shaders/whatever as the competition, it'll still probably be able to crank out 1080p. It'll likely be able to handle the same games as the other consoles, even if they have to be cut down (like console vs PC now, relatively).
The larger question would probably be online/download capability, which looks to still be far behind what others have/will have.
