Final Fantasy X is one of my favorite RPG's easily. I liked the sphere grid, battle system, and characters. 8)

This game is balls. And no, as fucking irritating as tidus is, he isn't my main beef with this game.

The post is balls. The middle part is irritating, but that's not my main beef with this post.

I once would go into great detail of why this game gargles nuts, but I have found it is pointless. People who liked this game surely will not be swayed by what I say. Hehe

So why bring it up at all? Why should anyone care about your opinion if you're not confident enough in it to share? I'm led to believe that you haven't managed to convince anyone because your argument isn't particularly compelling, but I guarantee it's better than "this game is balls and it gargles nuts."

I tried playing FFX after FFX-2 came out because X-2 looked totally sweet.

But, man, I just couldn't get into FFX. I frickin' hated blitzball (I think the first big match you have to play is when I quit the game), and the game just seemed ridiculously linear.

Maybe I'll give it another go when the HD remake comes out. I still would like to get through it so I can play X-2.

I agree with both of these sentiments. Blitzball was boring. I just chalk it up to being a "japanese thing" and assume they felt the need to shoehorn in a mini-game.

The game is absolutely 100% linear. It can accurately be described as "walking down a tunnel from encounter to encounter". Moving around is linear. The battles are scripted and linear. Hell, even the sphere grid, while at first appearing to be wide open, is pretty much linear.

And yet somehow people like it more than XIII, which is the exact same thing.

Linearity itself isn't necessarily bad, but the gameplay was closer to previous entries than XIII's system too. It perhaps did a better job of disguising the linearity as well, with more diverse environments (at least in terms of tone). Offhand, I can't think of much before the 15-20 hour mark in XIII that was bright and open (but it has been a while).

I enjoyed X - avoided Blitzball as much as possible though.
