Why Can't Konami Seem To Do Anything With The Contra Series?

Everybody I know loves NES Contra also, but only to the point where after playing it on an emulator or flash it gets hard and they get bored. Then they want to play something new and badass, like Call of Duty and such.

Contra Rebirth was pretty good. I thought 4 was awesome. Shattered Soldier is badass and has a good level of difficulty, too.

Love Hardcorps, but I wish the game had included gruesome enemies and bosses like the previous Contra games and less generic robot ones.

And if they do make another one, keep it 2D.

Good call. Amazing gameplay in that one.

Yeah, part beat'em up, part shmup and part run and gun. Nice mix of styles. I love the balance of enemies and bosses too. There's plenty of interesting low level enemies that are fun and challenging to fight, and each stage throws multiple bosses at you as well. Plus, two (three after you beat the game) characters with COMPLETELY different combat styles. The third, unlockable character made me love the game even more when she showed me a completely new way to play the game

The Red Star was one of those games when I could just fall right into a zone, weaving through bullet patterns in a zen like state, and fighting off multiple foes without anyone even touching me. It all felt very intuitive to me. Great game
