Really? A great movie is going to be spoiled by 3D? That's perhaps the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Yeah, 3D is absolutely over-done these days, and it's often done in post, which makes it look terrible. This movie however, is being filmed in 3D, on Red 4k cameras, at 48 fps. What this means, is that it's going to look absolutely fantastic both in 2D and 3D, as well as in IMAX. Did I mention it was going to be in IMAX?

Seriously, get over the whole anti-3D thing. A movie that's shot in 3D, by an amazing director like Peter Jackson, with WETA digital handling SFX, will still be amazing. I for one can't wait to see it in theaters, as apparently the 48 fps makes the movie look much smoother, and the smoothness also helps the 3D look much better, as well as helping to reduce strain on your eyes.
My Want List!

Handhelds: Atari Lynx, Sega Nomad, Neo Geo Pocket Color, GBC (Atomic Purple, Pokemon Edition), GBA (Pink OG, Silver SP, Spongebob SP+), DS (Phat, iXL), 3DS, PSP (1000, Go)

HOBBIT will be great, but that trailer did nothing for me.

Whoa, I did not know this was going to be a two-part film. Looks awesome, I haven't been to the theater in ages, but I will go to see this.

And I may be in the minority here, but as amazing as Lord of the Rings is I enjoy The Hobbit so much more.

Me too! I think I enjoy the "adventure" quality more than the "epic" if that makes sense.

There are moments I'd never thought I'd get to see realized on screen in a meaningful way -- Bilbo's adventure is one, Roland arriving at Can'-Ka No Rey is another. If one can happen, surely I'll live long enough to see the other as well. :)

Shit it's not like there won't be a 2D version released theatrically anyway.

The Hobbit is the only book I've read more than three times, and I maintain that it's one of the best books of all time. I'll definitely be watching this!

I get major headaches from 3D. Besides, I'm very much against the technology. It's just a retarded gimmick, and it needs to die. Want to see 3D? Go outside.

Awesome. I've been waiting on this movie for a while. I prefer The Hobbit to LotR so I'm excited. :)

I'm pretty sure Crysis looks better than outside.
