Re: Gamespot gives Skyward Sword 7.5/10
But, its ok that they release games full of bugs, because they can patch them
Re: Gamespot gives Skyward Sword 7.5/10
I don't agree with a lot of posts in this thread. Guess that's not a useful statement so I'll try and add something more substantiative. I just read the gamespot review and I think the text matches the numerical score. I appreciate seeing some variety in scores for games. I like reading reviews from small and large publications alike, including for movies. Professional opinions seem to me to vary far more than on video games. Maybe that is because film reviewers come from a wider range of backgrounds (ages, cultures, educations).

I said Skyrim is loaded with bugs and sits at a 94 meta. Socom Confrontation is loaded with bugs and got trashed cause of the bugs and its at a 63 meta. All I got was "Skyrim is da best game evaaaaa!!!! Socom was garbage cause of all the bugs." Kids these days.
Eugh. I hate that. It is full of bugs, it's actually pathetic. The game even on Ultra STILL looks like shit. For some reason though everyone absolutely fucking orgasms over Bethesda and every piece of shit they pump out gets instantly branded 'Game of the Year'. I don't get it. Morrowind was awful, Oblivion was even worse, Skyrim is just terrible. Don't even get me started on the dog turd that is Fallout 3/New Vegas.

I'm glad this thread happened. For some reason I thought everyone loved ES games, and that I was the only one that didn't get the hype.

I didn't like Oblivion or Fallout 3 at all. But loving Skyrimjob. So much fun.
On the other hand, I am not a big fan of most 1st party Nintendo games. I do get the hype though.

I own Morrowind and Oblivion. I'd say they're both mediocre, with some scattered good elements.
I don't think "open world" gaming has really been perfected yet. I guess gamers are supposed to get excited about how much ~*exploring*~ there is to do in games like Elder Scrolls, but I'd rather play something with clear goals and objectives. I'm sure the open world concept can work, it just needs a lot of tweaking. It now goes without saying that I don't like MMOs too much either. I subscribed to WoW for two months, got up to level 10, and quit. The entire time playing I felt like I was just roaming around and jerking off.
With all that said, I will give Skyrim a shot. Once it comes down in price, that is.
I think we're being over-saturated with all the first-party Nintendo stuff. New Super Mario Bros, the new Kirby games, Zelda, Metroid, and Donkey Kong are all great... but do we need all the silly sports/Olympics/casual stuff. Probably not.

I wouldn't go so far as to claim that. As with any game, you have to let the "newness" (is that a word?) wear off before you can make an objective viewpoint.
Re: Gamespot gives Skyward Sword 7.5/10
I haven't played Skyward Sword but I know that I will love it, so that's good enough for me. Reviews are nice but since everyone has different interests when it comes to games, you can't always trust them 100%. The typical American casual gamer Call of Duty player would probably dislike Skyward Sword.
I heard that Famitsu gave Skyward Sword a perfect score of 40/40. Since I tend to think about games like most Japanese people, this review is more valuable to me.
I also hate the 5 to 10 rating scale that most big gaming sites use. 5 is supposed to be the score you give to an average game, not 7. Giving almost every game a rating of 7 or 8 screams dishonest to me. They don't actually care about giving a good review. They just don't want to lose their advertisers or upset any publishers. That's why I don't read sites like Gamespot or IGN.

Hey, I complain about reviewers a lot for various reasons, but creating a thread to complain about a hyped up game not getting a game of the year quality score, am I on Gamefaqs now?
Seriously guys, we're better than this aren't we?
