Hmm, if the company were deserving, I might drive up to Huntsville to see that.
Actually, you can kill a corporation with impunity and states execute them all the time for infractions as minor as not paying their franchise taxes.

Didn't this Internet bill already get shot down? Is it the same bill as in the other Thread?

The senate voted in favor of net neutrality!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

It was a 52-46 vote, so kind of a close call.

Story: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/11/1 ... 86530.html

So I am very excited that net neutrality won this round! (WOOT!) :D
I really doubt any survey will sway the party lines.

I have a feeling that those that voted Yes don't use the internet save for News and email.
The voting went along party lines, with the Republicans voting for it and the Democrats against. Inouye (D-HI) and McCain (R-AZ) didn't vote, and Lieberman (I-CT) and Sanders (I-VT) voted with the Dems.

Yes, it is how every country works. The whole world is corrupt.
We're both agreeing about the state of the world. I just don't share your idealism that it can be changed.

Net neutrality is different. Net neutrality is that internet service providers cannot control how we access content arbitrarily. This bill allows the government to get websites pulled from their hosts.

I will pretty much leave the internet if this passes. I will do all of me research at library's. Even my porn will be obtained differently.

Has anyone read the bill?
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

The bill text is available here. The YouTube prohibition portion is "SEC. 201. STREAMING OF COPYRIGHTED WORKS IN VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL LAW." There's also "SEC. 102. ACTION BY ATTORNEY GENERAL TO PROTECT U.S. CUSTOMERS AND PREVENT U.S. SUPPORT OF FOREIGN INFRINGING SITES.", which would of course NEVER be used against domestic sites.

And don't kid yourself, your representative isn't going to read the bill anyway.

We were supposed to read it? I thought we were just supposed to hear about it and then cry out in righteous indignation.

Exactly. As much as I like to see people participating in so important a discussion, it is distressing that people feel so strongly about it without having read what it is they are up in arms about.

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c112:H.R.3261:

That link leads to a copy of the bill itself. If you guys feel strongly about it, I say give it a quick read through. It will help the discourse if you know the specifics instead of just a few parroted talking points.
