Lol. Considering he needs 50% +1 electoral votes to win the election I'm pretty sure it's more complicated than that.Hatta wrote: Obama is not on our side. He protects the 1%.

Both D and R represent the 1%. They just play us off of each other to keep us distracted. Divide and conquer.Flake wrote:Lol. Considering he needs 50% +1 electoral votes to win the election I'm pretty sure it's more complicated than that.Hatta wrote: Obama is not on our side. He protects the 1%.

No one who actually pays attention to politics can come to this conclusion.Hatta wrote:Both D and R represent the 1%. They just play us off of each other to keep us distracted. If you don't mind my asking, what is your back ground in politics and sociology? You take the most extreme stances and I can never figure out what's behind the rhetoric.Hatta wrote:Both D and R represent the 1%. They just play us off of each other to keep us distracted. The president is just there to give us the impression that we elected someone to run the country. In reality, the country is run by the major corporations, bankers, etc. It's all a big charade.
If there was someone in charge who honestly tried to do what was best, you can bet your fucking ass he would be bought out or assassinated. It's a damn shame.

Isn't that common knowledge? Maybe it isn't...Inazuma wrote:The president is just there to give us the impression that we elected someone to run the country. In reality, the country is run by the major corporations, bankers, etc. It's all a big charade.

Really? How else do you explain the past 30 years of ever increasing gaps between rich and poor? If either party really represented the poor or the middle class, they'd have been fighting this for decades by now. Instead, they just bring up wedge issues (abortion, gay rights, immigration) etc just to get people to take sides.o.pwuaioc wrote:No one who actually pays attention to politics can come to this conclusion.
I struggle to understand how anyone can look at politics and not see this. Given that less than half of the populace votes in any election, it seems like the people know it's a farce.
Honest observation, that's all. I'm just an interested citizen who believes in things like the rule of law and fair play. I haven't seen much of either in the 20 years I've paid attention. I've read a fair chunk of classic political theory texts (locke, rousseau, hobbes, mill, plato, godwin, marx, bakunin, and so on). In any case, you don't have to be a political scientist to see what's going on in front of your face.Flake wrote: If you don't mind my asking, what is your back ground in politics and sociology? If my views seem extreme, consider how a modern democratic capitalist would have looked in feudal ages.

Why shouldn't there be an ever increasing gap between the rich and the poor? I mean, let's just talk everyone growing their money at the same percentage. If Bob starts with $1000 and Mary starts with $100,000 and they both grow at 5% then there will be an ever increasing gap between them.Hatta wrote:Really? Wait a minute, I thought that the war was technically still going to be continued, but just through remote-controlled drones, thus allowing the soldiers to return, but the war to continue. Is this true?

Because we live in a supposed democracy. Since the poor outnumber the rich, they should be able to make policy in their favor. Since they haven't, that's empirical evidence that the democracy isn't exactly working.MrPopo wrote:Why shouldn't there be an ever increasing gap between the rich and the poor?
BTW Popo, do you have anything else to say in defense of the organized crime syndicate we call the finance industry?
