Virginia Earthquake - East coast peoples ok?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I wouldn't call it the NYC earthquake, when it occurs in Virginia, thats for sure. Its not like you see people calling it the NC quake, or MD quake, or even DC quake. Even in DC we're calling it the Virginia quake.

On top of that you have NYC NJ people posting pictures of knocked over picture frames to trivialize this because it wasn't bad for them. You know that Union Station was closed due to damage? And that Culpeper Country declared a state of emergency? And the Federal government closed early, and the jury is out on tomorrow once we assess all the damage.

The worst "damage" I've seen on the over-sensationalist media all afternoon is a few knocked over chimneys right at the epicenter. If that's the worst they can dig up, I doubt there is any significant reason for concern. The lols by folks across the NE are caused by the fact that nothing really happened.

I was watching Futurama when It shook. Weird feeling. Thought I was getting sick.

I thought someone next door turned on a subwoofer. Then the walls started rocking ( ). Then it stopped.

I guess the part of Lowes I was in when it happened was structurally awesome because I didn't feel a damn thing.

I'm too far south to feel anything. I'm sort of bummed out. If the hurricane gets close enough though, I'll let you all know. I may even post videos of the surf if the storm is far enough away from the coast. Don't want getting blown out to sea or anything

Felt it out here in Suffolk, VA but there doesn't seem to be any real significant damage. Just a lot of people shaken up (pun intended).

I live on the Virginia / West Virginia border. I didn't feel a damn thing. I didn't even know there was an earthquake until someone else told me she heard about it on the phone. It was an absolute non-event here. Everyone I spoke to said they didn't even feel it.

My father and brother both felt it, both in different parts of the island. I feel like I missed out. I was in Borders after that, that's all I heard people talking about. Trying to make phone calls is a pain in the ass right now because all circuits are busy. I had to call my brother's girlfriend to ask the name of an author (I was in Borders) and had to make a few attempts before I got to her. Too many people on the phone right now, "Did you feel it!? Did you feel it!?!"

Yeah I feel it, that's LI for ya dude, no surprises there! Drama, drama, drama. We get a few inches of snow and all the milk and bottled water is cleared from the grocery store shelves in minutes it seems. The media doesn't help either, I can't stand Newsday and news 12. :x

So is that Borders cleared out yet in SB(I'm just taking a wild shot in the dark that's where you work since Lowes and Borders are right next to each other there)? I was there a few weeks ago and the sales were bullshit. It was the same discount as when I worked there on most of the shit I was looking at 25% off on the dvds. Wtf?! Ok my rant is done!
I am addicted to video games, especially retro gaming from my era. I have: NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Gameboy, GBA, Wii, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, and Xbox 360. I have probably over 1,000 games in total for all these systems combined. Yes, I need help and I wouldn't have it any other way! This is my passion and hey my wife still loves me!!

Yeah, I was in Stoney Brook. Borders was pretty full, actually. They have signs around that say their warehouse is shipping to the store locations daily to clear out all inventory. Pretty much all books were $40-$50% off.

Yeah, people here suck when it snows. They buy food like they're gonna be stuck inside for a week, meanwhile you're only stuck until the plows come around. Last winter was pretty bad though, we did get a LOT of snow.
