Lookin sharp man. Thats a clean ass image. I need a stick already.ZenErik wrote:New toy obtained. 19" CRT monitor. Flat screen. 1600 x 1200 resolution. Perfect for tippin' sideways. Only 50 pounds so it's easy to change back when I'm playing a hori or non shmup. This will be mainly used with MAME, J360, and Dreamcast.
My 360 VGA cable just came in today. Still waiting on the proper adapter to hook up the audio for it. Shmups look and feel so much better on here. My 47" LCD looks great for HD games, but the CRT looks far better for shmups and older games. Plus playing verts on a widescreen TV that isn't in tate looks pretty stupid anyway. The picture is only about 1/3 or less of the screen... D:
So satisfied with this.

Yep! I use the PS3 stick for PS3 games and MAME/doujin. 360 stick on the 360 and if I need another stick for MAME/doujin.dunpeal2064 wrote:Lookin sharp man. Thats a clean ass image. I need a stick already.
And the DC stick for the DC, of course.
The image on my CRT is great, and I see the scan lines you speak of. I'm not a big fan of the scan line options in Futari though. It's just like a 480 x 640 image with scan lines that are for a lower res picture. Doesn't seem quite right to me.
Still waiting for an adapter so I can have sound on the 360... One minor annoyance is how HUGE the Xbox VGA cable is. I can't have the VGA and HDMI plugged in at the same time because of it. At least I beat my Futari score on my first run.

Oh yeah, those scanline options are really only for people playing on an lcd. If you add scanlines to a monitor that already has scanlines, it doesn't look too great.

oh haha. I was expecting it to be alphabetical, cuz I'm neurotic. Arcana 3 is the first game in my PS3 collection, so I was like "what the heck does he have that starts with an A?"ZenErik wrote:The iDOLM@STER 2.noiseredux wrote:what's to the left of Arcana 3?

The scanlines still are not very noticeable in vert. Almost non-existent.dunpeal2064 wrote:Oh yeah, those scanline options are really only for people playing on an lcd. If you add scanlines to a monitor that already has scanlines, it doesn't look too great.
I think they're much more noticeable when the monitor is not on its' side.
Just curious, do arcade verts typically have a monitor with vertical scan lines like mine, or do they have special 3:4 displays that have horizontal scan lines?

I sort by region, and then alphabetically. But some of my friends tend to put things back in the wrong spot... Very annoying.noiseredux wrote:oh haha. Hmm, did you try all the different scanlines? I think there are like 7 or 8 options.ZenErik wrote:The scanlines still are not very noticeable in vert. As far as I know, the scanlines run the same way, whether its a tate'd screen or a natural 3:4 screen. If they were different, then I'd imagine the easily-rotatable Egret II would not be as popular, since it wouldnt be able to adjust its scanlines.
I'd say that the scanlines look more noticable when its not tated because then the scanlines are going the wrong way, so its blocking instead of lining up. When you have it TATE'd, the in game scanlines are probably lining up with your tvs scanlines, so its not standing out.
I could be farting out my mouth, so when I'm home I'll test it out.
Re: Erik's setup + collection (Major update: 1/15/12)
Yea, I did. Only two of the options really seemed to add scan lines, but they were very large. Perhaps the original arcade machines are they low res, but it looked odd because my picture was still obviously 480 x 640. If the different screen modes lowered the resolution of the picture too, it may have looked better.dunpeal2064 wrote:

Scanlines are definitely more noticeable when not tated.
Either way, the few games I tried looked excellent. DDP DOJ and Mushi Futari were wonderful. So much better than playing on my LCD with the screen 1/3 or less full. For whatever reason I played better as well. Not sure if the lack of input lag compared to the LCD really helped that much, but it sure won't hurt.

Very nice. I've got a pair of DT770's (Darth Mod) What do you have in the way of source components? Any other cans?
