X-Men: First Class
Re: X-Men: First Class
I can definitely say Erik/Magneto made the movie for me.

SPOILER ALERT

And of course I must agree with Penny Arcade. Angel and Banshee seemed like horribly dumb mutants (for Angel, it was the wings, for Banshee, I never cared for the character at all). I'm also trying not to get hung up on the differences from the comic.

I haven't seen the movie yet, and I know you're not quite saying this, but Angle was an original member of the X-Men.o.pwuaioc wrote: And of course I must agree with Penny Arcade. I thought she came later? Besides, they don't follow her role exactly. I won't ruin it for you, but it's not the same as on ink. And her role isn't that particularly exciting.Limewater wrote:I haven't seen the movie yet, and I know you're not quite saying this, but Angle was an original member of the X-Men.o.pwuaioc wrote: And of course I must agree with Penny Arcade. Edit: Btw, are you referring to Angel aka Tempest or Angel aka Archangel? The former was in the movie.
Re: X-Men: First Class
Oh. That clears up a major confusion. I thought you were referring to Warren Worthington III (Angel/Archangel). Sorry.o.pwuaioc wrote: I thought she came later? Re: X-Men: First Class
except for professor X and beast they seem to fail at getting the proper original members in the xmen team at the right time.
In the original xmen movies Iceman was a teenager and new to the team when he was one of the founding members in print.. so I'm kind of over the wrong members at the wrong time at this point. It's been off since movie one so its hard to expect them to get it right now all of a sudden.

People shouldn't expect comic book movies to strictly adhere to canon anyhow, especially with something with a continuity as long running and convoluted as x-men.
As long as the changes they make serve the story they're trying to tell and the movie itself turns out GOOD then I have no issues.
On another note, this movie apparently retcons Origins and X3. I like that.

I think this was my favorite or 2nd favorite X-Men movie. It had sooo many retcons though.

Re: X-Men: First Class
Without Erik in the movie, I don't think I would have enjoyed it at all. He definitely made it worth seeing.o.pwuaioc wrote:Agreed.Xeogred wrote:I can definitely say Erik/Magneto made the movie for me.
I did feel like a lot of the character changes were a little rushed. I really didn't fall for Erik's change of heart near the end, and then his instant concern for X, followed by his immediate departure. I felt like none of those actions really went with the way they built his character up.
Overall, probably the best X-Men movie yet. Granted, for me personally, that isn't saying much. I still think these comic book movies could be a lot better. The only one that just blew me away was Dark Knight.
