The thing has broken every sales record for a Nintendo game console and it's only been out for a month. How is that a low adoption rate?
Adoption rates mean nothing, 200k or so is still just 200k or so and that's worldwide! Now divide that amongst America which currently has the lowest adoption rate and is traditionally slow to purchase new hardware and you have less than 50k or so in the United States.

It's Capcom trying to screw the franchise over. As far as MegaMan is concerned he's now Capcom's Sonic, not a true mascot just a face on a company.

How many people IRL do you know with a 3DS? If you can't name 4-8 then it's not common enough to make anything succeed yet.

And if they keep this shit up, I feel pretty sure they'll be dead to the rest of the world in about five years, when they've lost so much money on the latest Dark Void, Lost Planet and other "Let's copy Epic Games!" shit they've been doing lately, and the endless Street Fighter, Devil May Cry and Resident Evil sequels and spin-offs finally reach their breaking point and only inspire feelings of emptiness in their former fans.
Yeah, they're pretty much dead to me now too. Losing Mikami, Kamiya, and Inafune in one generation was complete over kill. Resident Evil has become a true living nightmare in itself with them spinning it on the Square Enix milk machine. The new DMC headed by Ninja Theory and whoever that director/lead designer behind it is now looks like it's a dead corpse that's gonna bomb in sales. I hated Dead Rising and most of their other new stuff from the start, I don't want more of that junk.

Vanquish completely destroys everything Capcom's tried to do this gen. Shadows of the Damned looks like it'll do it again. Cheers to Platinum Games and I wish them the best of luck, it's depressing that Capcom was one of the last companies I've managed to love for 20 some years but they finally slipped up just way too much for me this generation and they seem broken beyond repair at this point.

And the E-Shop hasn't even launched yet.

Oh, and we've already had 5 get traded in at my job. People aren't buying it enough yet and interest isn't there. There hasn't been enough software released and not enough people care about or even see the difference between it and a regular DS or DS-i.

We're gamers, we get it. But it always takes the general public about 3-6 months to jump on anything and there's where the problem lies. Even after the mass public adoption starts happening nobody will know how to put the thing online or won't even care about it. We still get dozens of people a day who never even knew about VC or downloadable and online features on the Wii and existing DS systems.

Oh and people just don't care about new DS systems anymore. No matter how much I explain the differences, how it's a true successor and that the regular DS has been discontinued is it hard as shit getting people to believe me and upgrade.

Why you might ask? Well when simply put, the name. People think DS means it's a DS plain and simple. It's not like the GameBoy Color or the GameBoy Advance where both the machines, marketing and games were vastly different in some radical way. This feels like another cheap DS cash in to the average consumer until they pick it up and play it which aside from the fanboys and the techies who want it all first come first served the real adoption rate that determines the system's viable success will be both slow and painful.

Don't get me wrong, I love it to death but the real-life chances of this demo solving anything and getting the game released are very very slim.

I believe your avatar sums up that post flawlessly, in a nut shell.

I think he's more talking about how many (including myself, to a certain extent) are pretty much saying "I'll wait for the 3DS Lite" or something along those lines. Nintendo has been pulling the 'Upgrade in less than a year' shtick for quite a long time now with their portables.

Personally, I'm just waiting for the next iteration to come out so it'll bring the price of the current one down. It'll make importing a Japanese one so that I can play all the games that are now region-locked a bit cheaper.

It sucks that Mega Man Legends 3 is coming out on 3DS... Why wouldn't they make a legit console version for PS3 and 360?

Because development costs for a handheld are lower than they are for a homeconsole. Lower costs = lower liability + greater chance of profit. As it stands today, most games for the HD consoles don't make a dime for the developer until they've sold a million copies - and Capcom has been burnt REALLY often playing that game (i.e. Bionic Commando).

Legends 3 on the 3DS is the best chance for the series to make a comeback.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
