The reason is that it costs a great deal more for that conversion. The s-video mod is only $15 max. People who play on standard crt's don't often have the option for component, let alone SCART.

15$ max? Last time I heard, it was 100$+ for a S-video mod.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure he means $15 if you do it yourself. $100 is probably retail from buying a modded Genesis off someone.

Wow, $100+? I'm way undercharging if that's the case. I only charge $40 for the s-video mod(includes composite and stereo).

Yes, $15 for the parts. I think $40 is a reasonable price for one of the easiest mods. It only takes about an hour if you know what you're doing. $100 is way overpriced unless it's a region mod or overclock as well.

Even if you include a region mod and overclock I think $100 is a little high. Overclocking and region mods are almost the same difficulty as the s-video mod. $75-80 is about right for all 3.

Are you from the jammanationx site? If so, I love your site and it inspired me to do the mod in the first place!

Yup, that's my site. I'm glad it got you to do it yourself. If anyone needs any tutorials made just let me know. If I can do it then I will make a tutorial for it.

I would like to know how we mod the 32x for s-video. Since I use the whole Sega setup I need my 32x to output the s-video, or component.

As far as I know the KA2195D encoder in the 32x doesn't output S-video. The mods I've seen for S-video on the 32x just look like brighter composite video.

You might be better off making an RGB cable and using an external encoder or you could tap RGB from the inside and mount the encoder internally and add panel mount video jacks.

sorry to be a total noob, but what is this s-video mod of genesis all about? Does it improve the quality of the graphics or sound? I'm willing to buy it if it is.
