Mm, either the dreamcast or gamecube version, I'd say. The prices I'm finding with a quick search are pretty similar, so whichever one of those I come across first will be it.

I'm aware it can be had for cheap on psn, but I'd rather have a hard copy of the game.

Do you have a favorite version you think I should go for?

I have the N64 version and I enjoy it. Virtually no loading times is a good selling point.

The GameCube version is probably the best disc-based version. I don't have 2 on GC but I have 3. Playing 3 I didn't notice any loading times, minus initial data load from the memory card.

Either one of those would be good. But it's still a great game no matter what system you play it on. :)

Here's the description of all the ports.

It's too bad the Gamecube version wasn't a port of the N64 one, sounds like the most different and upgraded one for sure.

I'm pretty surprised at the prices I'm seeing for RE2-RE3 GC on amazon right now, normally I only saw them for $30+ and up and never thought that was totally worth it when they're just straight ports. But those current prices aren't bad at all. Anyone know if they're single discs?

I can verify that RE 3 is a single disc so there isn't a reason that 2 should be on 2 discs.

2 and 3 are both single discs. I got both of mine pretty cheap too.

I fainted when I saw the price for the GC port of Code Veronica though. I couldn't believe it was that expensive, especially since the ps2 and DC ones are so cheap.

All said and done, I had a lot of fun with the game. I'm kind of surprised by that, but its a pleasant surprise. It's honestly a shame that I didn't properly play this sooner, but I'm glad I did now.

I'm gonna set it aside for a couple of days, then go back and play through Chris's game. After that, RE2.
That's cool you were able to enjoy it. The RE games are one of a kind, and every gamer ought to give them an honest shot.

If you really liked REmake, I'd suggest playing as Chris sometime. The game is different enough on his playthrough to warrant another go.

As for RE2, I'd probably opt for the DC version. As far as I know, the GC and DC versions are just ports of the PSX DualShock edition, and the DC one is generally the most inexpensive one. I can't say much about the N64 version, I've never played it, but it does sound pretty interesting. I guess overall it comes down to what controller you favor.

DC RE2 does have a few extra features in it.

I wouldn't even try to play any of them except 4 and 5... at least not until they remake the originals with the RE4/5 controls and gameplay. I find the originals are near impossible to play now. The controls are the worst I've ever experienced. I don't know how I played them when they first came out.

I feel the same way about Tomb Raider. At least in re you can tell the difference between two objects.

Please, RE controls take all of 15 seconds to get used to.
