Metroid Prime comes to mind

Actually rather than games I'll just mention systems. There's a lot of stuff on the Gamecube, N64, Gameboy and really Nintendo systems in general I have missed out on. The last Nintendo system that I actually played tons of games on was the SNES.

I have to agree with some of the praise for SOTN and RE 4. I played through those games multiple times. I rarely do that with anything I play

Oh, now that I think of it, I never really played through the original Resident Evil or Code Veronica or any of the Silent Hill games. My ratio of played survival horror games is embarrassingly low

brainofjtd, you definitely HAVE to play Beyond Good and Evil. I don't care what anyone says, that's one of the best games ever and better than Zelda in some ways(like the characters for one thing)

Kirby games. I just can't make it past the first couple levels. The cuteness is too much for me to bear.

I have never played any of the Final Fantasy games... I do have a NES copy of the first one I would like to try to play through. I would like to play the rest of them because I have friends tell me they are good.

Final Fantasy I was awesome, but if you go and play it today for the first time, it probably has lost it's luster..
I recommend tracking down a copy of Final Fantasy IX - it captures the spirit of what made the older Final Fantasies so charming, and meshes it with the maturity the series reached in the mid to late 90's..

The best Final Fantasy to play, in my opinion, is VI (III in America,) followed sharply by VII..

Anything after IX is garbage, in my opinion..
(OK, enough with the roman numerals - I feel like I'm discussing Rocky movies!!)

Most of the Final Fantasy games are indeed good, but it's probably the single most overrated series of games there's ever been. I usually lose interest in them after a day or two--especially the ones that focus less on game mechanics and more on story. I doubt it's coincidental that the story-heavy game-light titles in the series are the ones that are more popular with the series' fanatics.

It's almost the McDonald's of console RPGs. It's alright, and it's got enormous mass appeal, and it's virtually impossible to escape it, but there's much better stuff out there that gets far less attention. Saying as much seems to be utter blasphemy in front of a fan of the series though.

I disagree with some of the FF comments that have been posted, but I do agree with this. Ack would probably agree with me that this is a true classic and a good intro to the franchise. It has a great story and it was my first FF game. Actually, it was my first RPG.

The series kind of changed after that with the franchise moving to stronger hardware and going 3D. FF7 is notable for being one of the Playstation's most successul and popular games and making the RPG genre as a whole much more lucrative. The game arguably put rpgs and Final Fantasy games in particular on the map in a big way

Personally though, I think I'd recommend playing FFX after finishing FFIII(which, as mentioned, was FFVI in Japan). FFX was probably the last truly great FF game with everything coming out after it being kind of hit and miss. I think it's very accesible too with every aspect of the gameplay very easily and efficiently explained as you progress through the early parts of the game
