Re: 3DS graphic capabilities revealed
I would prefer they add more nozzles, then. But since they had 3 extra characters in SM64DS, they should have at least two extra nozzles. And levels/challenges for them, of course. I personally thought that the turbo nozzle wasn't used enough in the Super Mario Sunshine, even though it was the most fun to play with. More running levels with the turbo nozzle would be great, or a level where you use the turbo nozzle in the water.BlackDS wrote: Well, the nozzles are kinda like extra characters in SM64DS, having both variables would be kinda overkill.

...what other nozzles could they make?

They should get creative when making nozzles! They have a team of people that should be able to come up with something!BlackDS wrote:...or you could play a sonic game, he doesn't have to use hundreds of gallons of water to run fast.slowslow325 wrote:I would prefer they add more nozzles, then. I'm saying, you come up with a new nozzle, right now.

Miyamoto suggested in an interview I saw today that he's working on a 3D version/sequel of Super Mario World.

Bubble Blast - shoots big balls of water that explodeBlackDS wrote:I'm saying, you come up with a new nozzle, right now.
Freeze Spray - Spray a stream of water than freeze the stream, or freeze enemies
Combo Nozzle - Lets you combine too nozzles for a limited time.
Steam Nozzle - Better for cleaning those hard to get out spots, or burn enemies

There you go. I would like a "combo" feature. Not necessarily as a nozzle, but, maybe there could be tokens (or even the existing coins) that you can use to combine nozzles. Like, you select combine and it takes away five coins. The rocket nozzle combined with the hover nozzle could shoot you up and allow you to hover at your height. Turbo nozzle combined with hover nozzle would be really cool!pepharytheworm wrote:Bubble Blast - shoots big balls of water that explodeBlackDS wrote:I'm saying, you come up with a new nozzle, right now.

Also, a "New Super Mario World" would be cool. Just a port of Super Mario World with the New Super Mario Bros. style and moveset. It could also use the 3D features of the 3DS and make it look outstanding.

I don't think this has been posted yet. Everything is underclocked, and 64MB of RAM isn't fancy or anything. I guess things will become clearer come spring 2011.

Re: 3DS graphic capabilities revealed
I'd like to point out that comparing the specs to current smart phones is a bit misleading. Smart phones are typically going to be running all kinds of crap in the background (services like monitoring for new calls or text messages, the on-screen keyboard, other running apps, etc.) besides whatever app or game currently has focus. There's a lot of overhead that is consumed even by the OS alone that doesn't have to be accounted for on a dedicated gaming platform.
Consider that the original PlayStation had specs equivalent to a typical IBM/Intel 486, but was able to get game performance far surpassing the early Pentium-based PCs that were on the market at the same time. Being a dedicated device is a huge advantage in terms of how much performance can be forced out of cheaper hardware. Multi-function devices have to sacrifice more of that than people usually think about. I haven't yet seen any smart phone match the graphics we've seen from the 3DS so far, so that's clearly the case here as well.
