The problem with Dawn of souls is how badly they nerfed the difficulty. It's worse than FFIV. It also irritated me at how useless everyone who wasn't either a fighter or a white mage was by halfway through the game, especially the Red Mage. The PS1 version is graphically similar (somewhat better) and retains a reasonable difficulty, which is why it's my favorite.skyknight wrote: FF I: for your money, go with the GBA Dawn of Souls.

I respect your opinions, but would most of you agree (with limited budget), that the best buy would be the GBA versions of the games ?Dylan wrote:The problem with Dawn of souls is how badly they nerfed the difficulty. I do read about arguments on the GBA and DS ports of FF IV, which some videogames reviewer has some conflicts on which one is the definitive version, since there are some significant differences between the two.

This can be true, but it's subjective.skyknight wrote:I respect your opinions, but would most of you agree (with limited budget), that the best buy would be the GBA versions of the games ?

If you are the proud owner of a hacked PSP, get the PSP versions of FF1+2 (legit). They are seperate, $10 used, purchases, and do have small loading times, but rip them to your mem stick and have fun
. If you liek FF4, get "Final Fantasy Chronicles" compiliation on PS1. $20 new / $10 used and it has FF4 and Chrono Trigger. Rip those to your PSP to kill loading times or emu on PC (with an ISO of course). Other than those, the original editions of 3,5,and 6 are the best.
