The music sucks too, whoever took over the music for those is not good. Modern 2D Mario is in dire need of a complete overhaul, Sonic Mania makes them look like bad fan games.

I LOVED New Super Mario Bros and New Super Mario Bros Wii. New Super Mario Bros U was good IMO but not amazing. New Super Mario Bros 2 was trash.

I enjoyed the first two NSMB games, especially Wii which was amazing. I just have gripes about the physics. SMB3 is my ideal; just enough to give a satisfying heft and not as twitchy as World.

I really enjoyed the first NSMB on DS back in 2007. I thought the Wii NSMB was good too, but Nintendo botched the co-op in it. However NSMB2 on 3DS was rather disappointing. I played the first Wii U NSMB for about an hour and wasn't particularly impressed, but that was because it was just more of the same, rather than being outright bad. Haven't played any of the other NSMB games beyond that, and I don't feel compelled to.

I liked NSMB and NSMB Wii, but I LOVED NSMBU. My personal fave of the bunch. And AJ talking about how he loves U and 2 has made me want to go out and try and find NSMB2 again
