Re: The Walking Dead tv series
I think that after the next season, the show should go completely on its own. I don't mind characters and such, but the whole arc should go in a different direction. I think it would really add to the story to have it happen that way.
Still love the comics, and if you have a problem with it...

I seriously love that GIF...

When fanboys first got the news that there would be a WD tv show and that it would be in color, they were pissed. NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD/PSYCHO/etc. are no less creepy because they are in black and white, and at least in my eyes, the comic being in B&W adds to the overall gloomy and dismal theme.
Night of the Living Dead is a fantastic zombie movie, one of the best. But IMO both of it's sequels (Dawn of the Dead & Day of the Dead) were better. That's not to say that's completely because they were in color, but I'm sure it helped a little.

Actually, since NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD is public domain, I'd be interested in seeing it rotoscoped or rotoscoping a bit myself. I'd love to do a project like that, and it really seems like something I could get into.
Oh, and I want to see Tyrone still. or give TDawg a little more time. His whole line is practically [insert sentence related to show, with some type of stereotypical black slang here].

Re: The Walking Dead tv series
The comic was pretty good... I guess. I didn't like how over-exaggerated everything was, though. Everyone swears way too much for their own good. Someone needs to tell the authors that including the f-bomb in every panel doesn't make their comic better or more "edgy". It just makes it look like they can't write dialog. Also, every single issue has multiple characters crying. We're talking tears streaming down faces here. And Carl. He's a dick on the show but he should absolutely be dead in the comic after what happened to him. But he's up walking around like it never happened, perfect balance and brain function despite missing 1/3 of his head. The neighborhood arc was pretty boring as well. Not one interesting character or event. You begin to realize that this will never end, there will never be any kind of conclusion and the same stuff will just keep happening.

Well I suppose telling you that both the comic and show are written (lead) by the same person won't help then?

So I went to the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2) yesterday and there was a Walking Dead panel with Steven Yeun (Plays Glenn) and Lauren Cohan (Maggie Greene) . Both were extremely kind individuals and were hilarious especially Steven.

Re: The Walking Dead tv series
I'm about half way through book 2 of the trade paperback hardcover edition.
SPOILERS GALORE
Hard to know who to root for at this point. Everyone is pretty effed up. Comic book Rick is kind of a dick. He's not showing the strength and morals I've seen in his TV counterpart. He stands back and watches a guy murder a kid. Later, he murders a guy in cold blood while they are both fighting off a hoard of zombies. Seems very much like something TV Shane would have done. Comic book Rick is a lot like TV Shane. Lori's still a bitch. One of the few times I liked comic book Rick was when he told her to shut the f*** up, not because he was in the right when he did, but just because I was sooo happy to finally see someone say that to her. Lori spends every waking moment either whining about something or bitching about something and she just loves to get all up in people's faces whenever she's feeling pissy about something.
Even though none of the characters are particularly likable at this point, many zombie stories are known for showing humanity at its worst, so I'm kind of okay with that. The hardcover book 2 has all kinds of crazy stuff happening once they reach the prison. You don't even get to really take in one crazy event before the next one is already happening. The story moves at even more of a breakneck pace in book 2 than book 1. I don't think it would work in the show. This is very much comic book pacing, and won't work for a TV drama. It's a page turner I have to say. I keep wanting to see what happens next, even though I don't really have much emotional investment in any of the characters at this point. I think the show does a better job of making you give a shit about people. I guess that's the difference between a TV drama and an action packed, horror comic book.
It will be interesting to see how differently the show does the prison storyline. Some of what happens may be too graphic and disturbing for TV, but we will see. I've already witnessed one thing in book 2 that makes what happened to Sophia in the TV show seem pretty tame. The comics are telling a very different story than the show. I am quite interested in seeing things play out in the comic, especially since I just reached the part of the story with the hood wearing chick with the zombie pets we saw in the show's finale. Overall though, I still prefer The Walking Dead TV show to the The Walking Dead comic book. The whole, everyone is infected thing was handled much better on TV, among other things.

I haven't really been following the show/this thread because I prefer the comic to such a vast degree. I only watched the first season.
