On the other side of the pit? One measly missile-upgrade. I'm confident that I'll be fine without it and next session I'll head straight to Ridley's area. The end is in sight!
First, be aware that you start with 30 life BUT you start with a MAXIMUM of 99, so you can farm health right away! There are some areas in which infinitely-spawning enemies come up out of tubes and then fly at you, that's a good place to gather health at this stage. One of the game's problems is how long it takes to farm health. The only items that take your health all the way to the maximum are energy tanks (which also permanently boost your max health) and they're few and far between.laurenhiya21 wrote:So I played some Metroid and it's difficult! You guys make it sound super easy, but so far I haven't really made any progress. I mean I got the first powerup (which doesn't say much since it's right there), but after that I will go a little ways one way and die. Go a ways a different way and die. Lots of dying.
I'll give it another shot though I think, but does anyone have any pointers?
I also definitely recommend using maps! I'm partial to this one on GameFAQs.
The game definitely is more obtuse than it should be. Sometimes even WITH the map, there are some tricky bits that aren't obvious. I know *I* feel zero shame in looking at a walkthrough for this game.
