Very Good- Went to Game Stop to get a couple of PSP games (Buy 2 get 1) and to also reserve GTA5 for the third time. I asked the lady if i could back out the other (GTA5) reservations and apply them to the current one, she said sure and called the other GS' and got my money back. 8)

The Good- I went to my local GS to browse and spotted a Metroid Trilogy with the art book and manual, I explained to the guy, I had just bought a copy missing the inserts and proceeded to ask him if he would allow me to scavenge the inserts from the copy they had...HE SAID YES! 8)

Thanks to him, I now have a complete Metroid Trilogy.

I had a pretty good experience there today. I went there to cancel my PS4 preorder as I will be waiting for Infamous. The guy didn't hassle me about it nor did he push the power up card down my throat. In fact he was a pretty cool dude. I picked about a few titles from the 50% off bin and of course they were dirty as hell. I asked the guy if he'd switch the cases and he was more than happy to do so. I also asked him if he had a manual for Dead Rising 2, which he didn't, but instead he gave me the Zombrex Edition! :D If they keep this up I'll be dropping by more often.

:D Had to post this. Went to a gamestop just looking around for wii games. Went to the clerk and just for the hell of it I asked the clerk if he has the gold Zelda motion plus controller and he said yes he does but a employee really want's it and was working something out with the manager.
I asked him if he bought the controller and the clerk said "Let me call him to see if he still wants it" While the clerk helping me out two other employees came out of the back room. One was the store manager and the other was I think the assistant. The assistant asked me if I needed help and I said "No the clerk on the phone was calling an employee to see if he still wants the Zelda controller" and the assistant said "just give it to the customer. He's here now and wants to pay for it.
The store manager seemed pissed off when I bought it. I could hear the store manager yelling at the assistant that it was saved for the employee that works there. I had to just smile. Thanks gamestop.
The Zelda controller is in great shape almost in like new condition. got it for 35.00 total. Beats spending 50-75.00 on ebay. Now my skyward sword bundle is complete

I would seriously report that Manager to the Gamestop site and at the same time let corporate know how the assistant took care of you and got chewed out for doing the right thing. Employees are not supposed to stash merchandise for their own purchase let alone letting customers know they are doing something like that.

Somehow GameStop seems to screw up all the time. I went in today to my local one today to check out the 50% bin and thought i'd pick of Wolfenstein while I was there. Just my luck, the store only had one copy that was disk only. So I asked the guy what stores near here had them in stock. So the guy tells me the closest store is 9 miles away and I left disappointed. Later I go home and check for myself and guess what? He was lying out his ass. :x The other store in town and even the 3rd nearest to me both had it in stock! He just wanted to buy the copy he had.

I've had problems with this manager before so it's not really a big surprise. He loves to push the power-up card and trade in offers down peoples throats. Hell, one time he hassled me to the point where I almost walked out the store but that story is for another time.

I've really changed my view on GS lately. I don't think it's right to label them as a menace to the retail game industry nor call them saints. Some stores have good people and some stores don't. It's really based on the employees and their attitude.

Power-Up cards and Pre-Orders are basically the metric for how "good" a Gamestop is. That's pretty much all corporate looks at in terms of employee performance. It also determines their bonuses/raises. Every transaction they complete without a pre-order and or power-up basically counts against them.

The power-up card is a really good deal. If you do any amount of shopping there at all, it pays for itself in no time.

@Jmustang
It wasn't from the bargain bin and if you want to call It scamming then sure. He told me it was only available at a store that was kind of far so that I'd buy it at his store. It doesn't really matter if It was from the bargain bin or not. It's about the principle.

@spoony

I don't think the employees get commission on it, only the managers. I know it's a good deal. My card expired a week ago. I've just been being cheap. :P I mean, I could a good game for $15.
